After that, we need to add incentives and rewards and programs that encourage legal.immigration that is beneficial to immigrant and the US, and massive disincentives to those who would come .illegally. I see 'the wall' as one such disincentive. Do to the door, get in the queue, and come in that way.

Trump now says that Obama is heartless for deporting illegal immigrants. He says he has a large heart and mass deportation on the scale of Obama is not in his plan.
“President Obama has mass deported vast numbers of people -- the most ever, and it’s never reported. I think people are going to find that I have not only the best policies, but I will have the biggest heart of anybody,” Trump said.

I love how Trump is always the best. The smartest, the most compassionate, the most religious (well, I haven't heard him say that yet but I'm sure he will), the best everything.
However, he does not seem to be the best at consistency. I'm pretty sure he promised to deport "all the illegals" the first day he got into office. "The very first day, it gets signed." Etc.
And since he decided not to, I am not voting for him. I'm a Democrat, btw. I'm not voting for Hillary either.

And do not say that those were all legal, b/c a) the "requirements" were more lenient and b) even with that, many didn't comply (the derogative "WOP" for Italians means "without papers.")
I am smart enough to know that I had the luck of the draw in being born in the United States. I think poorly of those who think they are special because they have the same luck as I did.
I think that no child (or adult brought her as a child) should be deported b/c of what their parents did. And, I think that we should offer paths to citizenship -perhaps with some penalties- to those who have been living here for a long period of time (to be defined in law).

No other country has such an insane immigration policy. Or lack of it. With the exception of failed states.
