Good idea, except there's just no way DCPS is gonna spend money on buses for a Ward 3 school.

At some other schools that have moved to off site swing space (eg Takoma after the fire) have been bussed there from the campus under renovation. That would address the car/green situation.

It's not a very green policy. Once again, DCPS encourages everyone to get in their cars, like like the huge east to west migration they encourage every day. Murch has a lot of walkers.


It is an important point, but the schools are only one mile apart and all but 5 streets of the Murch boundary are North of Murch in between the schools. So you can walk and bike to Lafayette from Murch and from most of the Murch boundary. But sure, for two years some people who walk will drive and vice versa.

Unless Murch swings in site then the number of people walking will decrease - whether it's at Lafayette or elsewhere -nothing to do about it. However, I think lots of the Murch kids would still walk to Lafayette if they currently live north of Murch.

That is news to Murch; we were told it was off the table because Lafayette might not be done in time for Murch to move in. Where is the rumor coming from?

Sorry, I disagree. Having 1400 kids plus faculty, etc. in that space is not workable for the students or the neighbors. It places too much of a burden on the surrounding area, reduces valuable open/park space and the traffic would be impossible.
