Disney is not my idea of fun. I don't love standing in line for an hour to ride a mechanical ride, nor do I like giving in to the marketing machine. I'D rather be in Europe or a museum.

That being said, my kids like it, so we've gone twice. I think it's important for my kids to find out what THEY like, and they like Disney World. Nothing wrong with that.

This thread escalated quickly.

My DH is retired from the travel industry and our kids are pretty much grown. As a family, we have been to 45 of the 50 states, South America, Africa, Europe and Asia. I can honestly say that our trip to Orlando (Disney and Universal) was in the top 3 as far as family fun. The kids had a blast and we had fun because they were having fun.

And the kids have told us that the best trips to them were the ones that focused on togetherness and fun. They appreciated going to the exotic locations but enjoyed it more when they could just hang out at their pace and that there was not someting to be toured or learned. While touring the Paris and Rome were fun and culturally awakening, the focus was not on family togetherness and that was not fun to them....so they say.
