Where did OP say that?

I live in Montgomery County, where the public libraries don't allow cellphone use at all. What you are calling "closed door single person desk areas" they call "quiet study rooms". Is OP's husband occupying a group study room all by himself? Libraries are full of odd people.

yup, it's obvious. the deal is to have childcare in place if he wants to work from home and he knows it's not always possible to keep them quiet when he needs to lead a conference call. his job requires quiet moments so he goes where it's quiet. was i supposed to get offended with your comment?
He's having conference calls at the library?!
Maybe they are very quiet conference calls.

I'm a nanny and this is how I teach toddlers to go down stairs before it's safe for them to walk down (slide on tummies not in boxes.) If an older kid wanted to careen down the stairs in a box, and the stairs were unobstructed at the bottom, I'd have no issue with it. It's fun, and a hell of a lot safer than riding in a car or walking across a street. Seriously, pick your battles a little more wisely.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:PS. Nanny again- if I let the kids in my care fly down the stairs on cardboard boxes, I'd be fired. Why? Besides the fact that that isn't an appropriate activity it's COMPLETELY UNSAFE.
Boxriding is really fun. It also works well on hills outside, except hills are hard to find.
Sledding is dangerous, as are bicycles and any number of wonderful things to do..trampolines, climbing trees...acorn fights...

My kids are 2 and 5, they're not allowed to play ball in the house but they run and yell. We sing and dance together and they love to slide down the stairs on cardboard boxes.
Anyway, today we were having a play date and the other child is a screamer. Mom is working hard on teaching him inside voice but the guy likes to yell from the top of his lungs.
The kids run and yell, you all sing and dance, they love to slide down the stairs on cardboard boxes, you have a child over who likes to yell at the top of his lungs -- and it's unreasonable of the neighbor to complain about the noise?

Disrespectful? Like in "isolating our walls, not allowing ball play, no playing upstairs and not complaining about 11PM laundry habits" disrespectful?
Get a grip.
I explained the physics of vibrations across floorboards a couple pages ago and you conveniently ignored that. You also never answered why you bothered to post if you didn't really want opinions.
