And what's up with Bergdahl's father's beard? Must be some kind of radical religious nut with a big beard like that...

Oh wait.

There was no exit after that sign. The exit was a small sign posted to the left of the far left lane. It was not visible.

After the big white sign, don't you just take the next exit and turn around???? What kind of idiot is the guy?

Do yourself a favor - take 3 1/2 minutes and watch this video to see how easy it was for him to take a wrong turn and how hard it was for him to make a U-turn.

Not that damn easy and it's dishonest reporting because they don't show most of the signs that are posted there. There are MULTIPLE large signs saying the border is coming up for MILES before you get to the border when you're heading south on I-5 where he was, as well as MULTIPLE signs indicating LAST USA EXIT.

The guy has been in jail for several weeks now. It's time to let him go. If you had seen the pictures of the crossing, you would understand his mistake.

+1000. Besides, he made a MISTAKE!!! Why can't some of you idiots figure out this was not intentional and that Mexico needs to let him go NOW.

Were you there? How do you know it wasn't intentional. People take guns across the border all the time. It's only unintentional when the person is caught.

He TOLD the guards there were guns in his car. He then called 9-1-1. He wasn’t trying to hide them.
The signage directing people to the “US turn around” was practically nonexistent. Ironic that after this story broke, there is now a flashing neon sign with directions on which lane to enter to make the U-turn.

Absolutely NOT true - I've driven that road myself. Where he was on I-5 there is sign after sign for a couple of miles before you get there, telling you the border is coming up, as well as multiple signs for Exit 1A, Camino De La Plaza, which also says "Last USA Exit" on a bright reflective yellow background. You'd have to be totally brain dead and zoned out or on drugs to blow by all those signs not realizing what was going on.

If you know anything about DC, you would know that we don't need to be told when we can make a U-Turn. The guys from SE would have never been caught by the Mexicans. They would make a U-turn across six lanes of traffic, a bike path, and a school crosswalk.

Lawbreakers do that. Honest men apparently tell the truth and get screwed by our Comrade in Chief.

Law abiders bring guns into foreign countries in order to not make a u-turn???

Desertion is for UCMJ Article 85 proceedings to deal with.

It's not for some frothing nimrods on a message board to decide his guilt, innocence or fate.

But, wait, according to you, he is not a US soldier. In that case, why should he be subject to the military justice system?

Do you have evidence that he renounced his citizenship? He is alleged to have deserted. At this point he continues to be innocent of the charge.

I love how you guys just make up stuff as you go along.

While it is apparently not a crime, I do wonder why a guy who has PTSD is driving around with three guns. That seems problematic on the face of it. Didn't a guy with PTSD freak out recently and shoot someone at a gun range?

http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/on-the-record/2014/06/02/exclusive-real-reason-our-marine-jailed-mexico-had-guns-his-car

Has he shot anyone? Threatened anyone? My guess if you state you have weapons in the car, you aren't going to go postal on anyone's ass

I guess you can disarm active duty if you'd like, and paint all PTSD cases like Nidal Hasan who...oh wait, he didn't HAVE PTSD. And active duty WERE disarmed...that worked out well, did it not?

I totally forgot about Ivan Lopez, the Ft. Hood shooter who had PTSD. I was thinking of this case:

http://www.npr.org/2013/02/06/171233940/shooting-of-american-sniper-raises-questions-about-ptsd-treatment

"Police in Texas have charged Eddie Ray Routh, a 25-year-old U.S. Marine reservist, with capital murder. Arrest records indicate that Routh had been twice taken to a mental hospital in recent months, and had told police he was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder."

Maybe you want to wait until someone gets shot, but then you would say that's not the right time to discuss guns. But does a guy suffering from PTSD who is living out of his truck really need to have three guns? Maybe getting arrested is the best thing for the guy.
