No, there's a six month waiting period after the child is placed in your home. Even a child who is already free, or to whom you already have a connection.
Either the OP is lying, or the OP doesn't care a whit about these kids, to use their uncommon and identifiable names in this setting. Or she's a troll. I hope that's what's true.
For agency adoption. For private adoption, there isn't a waiting period. If it is foster to adopt it is a minimum of six month to make sure everyone adjusts.

I'd see it as a shortcut to Nell, which is sweet and old fashioned (and a nickname for Helen). Chanel just sounds aspirational, like someone wanted to sound rich. Cf Diamond, Tiffany, Crystal, etc.Anonymous wrote:Why is Nelly better than Chanel?

They are 4 and 6. We will not be re-naming Champagne to Charlene or Charmaine. Dh and I don't feel like we have to do the same things for each girl. Chanel is an okay name; it just lends itself to Nelly quite easily. Champagne is a hard name to go through, but doesn't lend itself to anything other than Pagne which has a negative association on multiple levels. I'm a little all over the place with this - we're operating on very little sleep and a ton of screaming.

What about her initials C.G.? Then you can all take some time and find a full name that she and you like when you're not so tired and stressed.
