They are unconcerned about how you "feel." This isn't about you, and you don't have any line of sight into how they are investigating this, nor are they obligated to keep you informed of those details.

As for no news from the survivor, I believe it was stated they intend to interview her Monday, acting on doctor's orders.

News last night said they received over 300 tips in the hours after releasing the sketch. Now detectives have to pursue those 300 leads. This takes time.

I have seen constant police presence, especially in the area of this latest incident. What other info does the *public* need from the survivor? We got a composite sketch of the person, and presumably, the caregiver didn't know the person, otherwise they would've arrested him. According to police, the suspect knocked, when door was opened he opened fire, and immediately ran. How long would that take? 30 seconds? A minute? What other information could the caregiver have besides what the guy looked like?

I'm sorry you think the city services and possibly PD are terrible. As a lifelong resident of the City, I politely disagree.

I agree. It's weird there is a survivor and clear eye witness yet no more info has been provided.

I also feel like they're not trying. There seems to be very little community and law enforcement communication. I feel like there HAS to be more details available, from home security, or other evidence, but either they're not being aggressive about collecting info, or they're being silent about it. Neither is helpful to a community with 3 eerily similar unsolved murders.

My point is the FBI has profilers. So APD clearly is checking the serial killer connection angle, if this is true. FBI could have been invited in to assist, not because there were federal laws broken.

Just like VSP and FCPD assisting..crime scene is not their jurisdiction, but they have equipment/resources/etc. that the City does not. VSP provided forensic equipment, and most likely the officers trained to use the equipment as well. Fairfax County PD has assisted by providing use of Fairfax 1 helicopter (APD does not have a helicopter) as well as the officers operating the helicopter. I'm glad to see law enforcement agencies working together to protect the public.

Twitter is very helpful and informative in these situations, too. When my kids were on lockdown, I figured out why thanks to Alexandria Police's twitter feed.

PP here, I would also recommend getting on the OTmom, del Ray, Rosemont and/or Beverly Hills listservs, people actively are posting there too.

I have gotten emails from the city re the shooting and re helicopters usage. I think when you sign up to receive the emails you have choices re topics, so I choose weather, schools, and emergencies from the police. For police ones I get random things about roads being closed for water main breaks, etc, but I have been getting emails re th Lodato crime, I think the most recent was the sketch and the helicopters.

I've gotten multiple emails. Check your spam filter maybe? Or which lists you are subscribed to?

What lists are you getting updates from?

Nothing in my spam folder. I signed up for the city's official e-news alert system. The last thing I got from them, was a winter weather advisory two weeks ago.
