Oh whatever. My commute from PG county to drop off and pick up my DC at HRCS shows far more dedication than you lazy walk-to-school types, so I have a right to go there. Also, who do I petition to get a traffic lane turned into a special school zone parking lane? I never have such difficulty parking in the middle of a crosswalk on Sunday for church.

+1 How did I miss this snark gold mine before? It's almost 99% pure?

Any word on whether Lee will be sharing space with the Hellbender Brewery?

No, HRCS has a great playground, it's just a mile outside of 495. It's no biggie - the PS and PK classes make a game of crossing 495 in different places every day. Just make sure your kid wears their reflective uniform - it's a bummer when kids don't.

^^ I feel the exact same way. It was everyone else's responsibility on DCUM to do my research for me. They should have told me not to apply. How date they?!

I went to 30 open houses in DC, read every post written about each school, stayed on DCUM 18 hours a day in case something interesting about the schools were discussed and got a Spanish and Mandarin tutor for my child - just in case.

And I didn't get in. How is it possible? I did everything I could and still... nothing.

So, now I will have to send my DC to LRCS. I am very concerned about my high-IQ kid getting so bored that he loses all interest in education and grows up wanting to backpack Europe for life instead of going to an Ivy.

Poor me.

I am the person who got in up/thread. Sorry you didn't. However, given all your research, could you share everything you love about the school? I applied in a whim and know nothing about it. TIA.

NP, but I am SO SICK of people getting into HRCS and other good schools who have done no research and then coming here to gloat and ask for info. Ok, here is my feedback - HRCS is awful and not a place for kids to thrive. It is also in a dangerous neighborhood. I would never send my child there, and neither should you. Much better to send your snowflake to a private school.

Oh!! Well, wow.... That kind of changes things, doesn't it? In that case, I'm calling HRCS tomorrow and giving up my spot. If DCUM tells me it's no good, it must be no good! Dammit, why didn't someone tell me this before we did not apply??

That poster is just bitter that his or her child didn't get in yesterday.

You are free to stop following it.

Pfft. This is exactly the attitude I expect from private school parents. They have a hard time admitting that HRCS students are beating all their snowflakes in the college admissions race.

Sour grapes! Just because your Big 3 school doesn't have it's own Harvard recruiting office on the upper school campus, you shouldn't hold it against us. Remember, we are better parents than you and better people because we support public education.

Wait, there is a Harvard office on campus too?? Where? I must have not been able to see it, since all those Yale and Princeton recruiters are always blocking the entrance to the school trying to convince HRCS kids to go.

The original bitter poster above asking us to give the thread a rest, maybe we should dial back a little on all the glorious aspects of HRCS. It's obviously not sitting well with all the parents who could only afford the best private, and didn't know who to bribe to get into HRCS.
