I am confident that your child will get in (as well as everyone else on the list having a full-scale WISC above 135 and GBRS is above 8). A much higher WISC (145+, which is actually a big deal, because that is the cut-off for "profoundly gifted" in the scientific literature) will get in regardless of the GBRS.

The decision about who, besides those determined to be eligible for level IV services, will be in the LLIV classrooms is done individually by the principal of each school in the weeks immediately preceding the start of school. Once they know how many students that have in LLIV, they can see how many open spots there are for high performing Level III students. Each school does it differently, however. Some school invite them on a subject-to-subject basis. Some invite completely into the LLIV classroom.

At our school, there are no Local Level IV "letters." Those fortunate enought to gain admission for their child via that route get a phone call from the principal the week before school starts asking for parental permission to "pupil place" the child in the AAP classroom.
