I think the worst is an old friend from high school who named his son Doescher. Pronounced dasher.

I know, I know, it's German. But it's also a strange name with an ugly spelling.

Here are two reasons I don't like the name Nevaeh:

1) It sounds like the lotion, Nivea, Niv-ay-ah (Yes, that's the correct pronunciation, it is a German brand, and Niv-ay-uh is how the Germans that I know pronounce it)

2) It is not a real name. It's a made up name, Heaven spelled backward. Imagine if your daughter's name was Yram, Lufitueab or Ylevol; or if you named your male child Emosdnah, Susej or Tsirch.

My sister had a "Jamasia" in class one year. The name was pronounced "Jamaica." I don't think the mom knew that Cs can be pronounced S but S is NEVER hard C.

When I was pregnant, my OB told me he once delivered twins named Prince Eric and Princess Erica.

A guy I went to school with named his kid "Coastin" and they call him Coasty. The last name is awful on its own as well, just a real clunky thing, but with Coastin, it is hideous.

How do you pronounce "Nevaeh"?

How weird these responses are. As far as names go, Teagan sounds okay to me, but maybe it's not everybody's cup of tea. Not the OP, apparently. Why are you responding as if the poster wrote something criticizing the "incredibleness" of Teagans? They don't like the name. End of story. Hopefully, you'll survive to live another day.

I went to high school with a girl named Shbetta (pronounced just like it's spelled) and another named Sandy Beach (first and last).
My husband went to school with a guy named Landon Gentry (first and last), which is both bad and pretentious. My apologies if anyone in NoVa knows him.

My cousin made up names for her three boys, which I won't post here because they are so unique that she would know it was me posting if she ever Googled them.

To address a couple of these:

France is a pretty common name for ladies of a certain age in... France. Often with another name, like Marie France.

Biche means "doe" (female deer) in French. Very common as an endearment.
