What is the instagram account that shows GDS college placements? Coming up empty...

+1 I’ve always wondered why full grown adults are so concerned with the lives of children they don’t even know… when you think about it, continuously stalking these Instagram pages is really weird.
Just look at the Colleges & Universities forum. The parents there are constantly refreshing these commitment pages, counting HYPSM admits, and making conclusions based on how the kids look in the pictures.
I don't think the parents actually care about individual kids and who goes to where. That is gossip. They just care about college outcomes.
Yup! As a parent the 5 year matriculation sheet mattered, individuals years or people did not. I am capable of holding space that not everyone wants to go to the Ivies and some are drawn to schools I would never have thought of. When choosing a school, it was more of a question of is it possible for these kids to go to that level of school. If one year the kids mostly choose not to, it really does not negatively affect my kid's ability to get into their top choice.

Key word is parents. There’s a difference between following outcomes and fixating on tearing down kids you don’t know. Based on yesterday, this doesn’t read like normal parent behavior.

Dude, after the comments that posted and removed yesterday, I think I may now be one of those parents who encourages their kid to not join the big social posting...
No shame to the parents who let their kids, until yesterday I would have too...

GDS has 10/110 Ivy + Stanford MIT.
Sidwell has 21/110 Ivy + Stanford MIT. So double the percentage. Letting alone Sidwell has many more top 10 like U Chicago admits than GDS.

Does that change the PP's statement? I think they made a valuable point in saying that at every school there are kids who don't always want to post. There are at least five other GDS kids headed to Ivy schools that haven't posted, and I'm SURE that's the same at schools like Sidwell, Maret, NCS/STA.
Good to know. But you can already see a lot from the 100+ that have posted unless all of rest are top 20. Perhaps, of course, those who have't posted will make the difference.

Have no kid at GDS, but just looking at the college page, it seems like kids are goofier and not as formal in their pictures. That’s the environment we’re looking for when we apply to private high schools but obviously it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

GDS upper school is a happy campus - kids are rooting for each other, and my oldest kid who graduated from GDS is independent + doing great in college as the school cultivates an independent spirit for kids to be self-advocates. It is a vibe of the school to be a bit quirky and have goofy and fun moments, it does not feel like the kids take themselves too seriously. There are many paths to success and my observation is that GDS families generally care about the process, not the results, to get there. It would be considered very uncool to be a "gunner" and overtly striving for a top school. Each kid can take their own path, find their own way, be an independent thinkers and creative problem solvers no matter whatever "rank" a school has....
