However, fixating on the ranking and admissions stats is a red flag and suggests that there is a disconnect between what the school actually offers students and their numbers.
Look for where the alumni of any school have landed in life. If the alumni placement and network is strong, that means more than statistics derived by marketing departments.
You can reflag it all day long, but these are the reasons why it's popular and people choose it.

Are these supposed to be good? Anything that relies on school provided numbers can be ignored. So all of that can be ignored.

I don't think you can put NEU in same category as BC, Tufts, or even BU.
BC and Tufts have always been in T40 and BU in T70. Northeastern is relatively new to the US News Rankings of T50 and it's position there hasn't yet become solid. Time will tell.
Bu is now t50, I think it is 42? Northeastern was sub 100 for a long time, started manipulating data, and now is t50. I think NEU has employed sketchy admissions and manipulated other stats to raise their ranking quickly. That being said, I think the coop program is better than anything BU, BC, or Tufts offers if your kid isnt a natural go getter who is going to get their own higher level internships.

I don't see many good candidates to replace Northeastern unless USN&WR put more mediocre pubic schools in T50.
It's staying.

Northeastern is the poster child of how to survive as an academic institution in this day and age. Unfortunately for the OP they are thriving.
Nobody from an educated background is letting their kids apply to NEU. Full stop.
