I am actually concerned this is some sort of mental health issue related to anxiety if she acted like this about coming home. You may want to talk to a doctor/therapist. I’m not sure punishment is the answer is this is mental health related.

I completely forgot about this post. We had a similar situation at the end of the trip. She enjoyed herself overall, but when it was time to leave on the 9th, things fell apart again. She refused to pack, said she didn’t want to go home or return to school, and wouldn’t get dressed, stayed in her pajamas. Our flight was at 11am. When it was time to go, we were not waiting so we basically had to physically get her out of the house and into the car. After that, she seemed almost shut down and didn’t act out at the airport, was angry because she was forced to leave.
When we got home, she stayed in the car and refused to come inside. We went in and let her come in on her own when she was ready. She has been grounded and we are dealing with her behavior.

Any Update OP? What consequences?

I think it’s ok as long as someone talks with her daily and would also let a neighbor know.

I’d allow this if I had an adult family member or friend checking in.
I actually did something like this for a former nanny family. I stayed with the 15yo in the house overnight for 5 weeks while the parents and younger child were in Austria ( not vacation, state dept family)
It worked well

Depends on the kid PP. Mostly responsible? Someone nearby who can help in an emergency?
