Explain why AI tech costs hundreds of millions in America and China created the same for far, far less. And they made it faster.

It's well known that China just steals American research and creates cheap knockoffs.

Maybe 20 years ago. Now they have passed us bye. Look at the numbers.

2021-2025 Trends: China's valid domestic invention patents exceeded 5 million, leading in 29 of 36 technology fields.

China Patent Grants: 1,044,777 (2025 projection)
US Patent Grants: 603,194 (2025 projection)

Total Active Patents: China (5.7M) leads the US (3.5M)

China vs US
2024 -1,044,777 324,042
2023- 921,000* 312,746
2022- ~798,000 323,410
2021- 696,000 327,307
2020 -530,000 352,008

I think is is cute that you have no idea was is going in China but feel compelled to post about it.

Ouch, son. China has more than 1.4 billion people, which is about 4 x that of the US. And you're bragging that they have about 1.7 x as many patents?

If you're indicative of how China teaches math and stats, they have a lot of work to do to catch up. Start with mathematics.

Anytime you want to invent something instead of shuffling paper and surfing instagram all day, feel free. I don't think we're gonna get many inventions from African American Studies or Women's Studies majors. But have at it.

I do find it interesting that the PRC even has a patent office after all the intellectual property they have stolen. Should anyone take their patent claims seriously?

DP. You still suck at math. If patents are the metric that you're using, then on a per-capita basis the US is significantly out-inventing China.

lol in the US VC firms buy up patents and restrict their use. This stifles innovation. This is another reason the Chinese are so far ahead of the US. There is not one area where the US is ahead of the Chinese.

Now add in the US can not manufacture anything. Look at the US domestic car market. US car manufacturers make up 30% of the US market.

China just steals American designs and engineering. Without US innovation they would be nowhere.

The complaint is what? Are you still going to complain about this when China owns everything of value in America? They're not "nowhere" any more, they're already "there". And their shit is shinier since they're newer than here.

We need to grow a bunch of elite students instead of complaining about recess time and homework. Kids that live in Asia outperform kids that live in America. What do you think happens when they become adults? And the kids that go to elite colleges in Asia are the elite kids. The ones that go to elite colleges in America are by in large nepo, DEI, or athletes. Multiply this by every single year and what do you get?

Blake tech firms and higher education from the past 30 years. Seems they are failing American students by falsely granting degrees. Either the degrees represent the same level of achievement or they don’t.

Fukuyama admitting this...I don't think people get how big this is - it's like sam power, madeline albright, hillary clinton, etc saying that the chinese model is better....

Francis Fukuyama, who is one of the god fathers of the 'democracy is the end state' movement and best form of government...

...just admitted that China upends his 'end of history' thesis and a new model has emerged...

Agreed. I mean, there is someone (or maybe more than one) person who is absolutely obsessed about this topic on dcum, and they can't stop posting about it. But really, nobody else cares. It's just tiresome -- the posting equivalent of verbal diarrhea, and about as meaningful.

But I don’t think many of you would like it at all. You’d be seen as troublemakers. And we know how China deals with troublemakers.

Then you are self identified authoritarian bootlicker with a fascist streak. You must be so proud. Fascists usually are!

I’m not a fascist, dummy, I’m a socialist/Marxist. And I would appreciate the relative absence of petty crime and the unproductive parasite class that we are saddled with here, if we had a society and government like that which China has.

I’m a lifelong Democrat, but one of the things I absolutely loathe about our party is we put up with criminals and willfully unproductive people as two very prominent constituencies in our tent. Both groups contribute almost nothing positive to society, and they make our tolerance for them look stupid.

I don’t expect this will make any sense to you though, since you seem to believe fascism and socialism are the same. So you aren’t even intellectually equipped to post in this thread.

DP... So you're telling us you're having a problem coping with the basic realities of human nature. Marxism has some great tenets on paper, but ultimately failed because it's dependent on an unrealistic utopian ideal. Same reason libertarianism and anarchocommunism and so many other ideologies fail. The Soviet Union, Maoist China and other nations ended up having to turn to authoritarianism to try and combat human nature and still failed anyhow. "Try harder to bring those criminals and unproductive people in line" only made things uglier.

China is 92 percent Han Chinese. Yes, there are Tibetans and Uyghurs and so on in western China, but overall it's pretty culturally monolithic. So it has a very different reality than a country as diverse as the US.

In the abstract, people may appreciate the stability of Xi and a technocratic elite that thinks longterm over the chaos and instability Americans are choosing with their voting for Trump and putting morons in government who can't think beyond the next election.

However, these two systems are not interchangeable. The US would have a revolution the minute we tried to impose a Chinese system. And China would fall apart if they had an American style democracy.

But democracy and free-for-all capitalism has certainly not been distinguishing itself in recent years. Whereas China has. But it's not a replicable system in the vast majority of countries.
