Ridiculous to change two elementary school communities and move students out of walk zones for this very minimal increase that has no impact on the original focus of the boundary study. Option F does not make sense.
Option F won't happen.
They could easily do option F but switch the BCC and Whitman elementary schools back to where they are now, but still keep the east county benefits of option F. As someone from Silver Spring I'm fine with that if it's what the school communities involved want.
Agree. Would encourage west county folks to vote for F and if this is their sticking point to mention it. F is clearly the best option for east county with minimal negative impact on west county (IMO).
I’m sorry but MCPS has been so horrible about taking feedback that I would personally never vote for F with a footnote hoping they make that minor, common sense adjustment. After the fiasco of what’s been going on with the regional plan, I just don’t trust them. My gut is if the majority vote for F, they will go forward with F as it is presented. I am not from Wood Acres or Bethesda Elementary, so not directly affected. But I’ve been around long enough to predict their actions and it is ridiculous that they would bus kids in a walk zone for no significant reason especially since all 6 other options do not, and are perfectly viable.
All other 6 options are viable for you, but they leave the highest FARMS schools overcrowded.
The capacity for each high school for models a to g is:

Wheaton has 8 in your chart but everyone else has 7 . Is there an option G for Wheaton? No

You’ve been beating this drum for months. Plenty of Wheaton capacity under all options.
Also even your display above has too many options under Wheaton
DP but I think you are agreeing with the PP. All schools are under-capacity under all options.
Wheaton's capacity is 2220 and only F is below that number. They say they will a fifth of Wheaton students to Edison for CTE programs to address that which is bizarre because Edison isn't a high school, it offers part-time programs and is open to students from all schools.not just Wheaton.

And, though this is more speculative, there is the apparently real threat that MCPS will use the forthcoming ES boundary study to have East Silver Spring “eat” part of the existing TK/Piney Branch ES zone north of Piney Branch road, and then send those kids to Northwood under option F. Some of Takoma Park’s most powerful and vocal residents live in those historic homes north of Piney Branch road. They’re already mobilizing from what I’ve heard, and I would be surprised to see the city object to option F to guard against the possible ES boundary developments coming up next.
Rolling Terrace goes to SSIMS currently, so Eastern isn’t surprising?

It seems like F does a good job, compared to others, of balancing capacity, FARMS and EML. I also like that it keeps GPES together. For my neighborhood proximity is also fine. So overall leaning towards F being my top pick.
My question regarding proximity: how do Wheaton Woods families feel about the longer drive to Woodward vs current drive to Wheaton?
Also, overall what do people think of F?
Who cares about GPES being kept together. Us at SSIM are being shut out…they’re closing our school. Say no to F. It deserves an F grade.
Your neighboring KPES isn’t being kept together and you don’t see them nagging as much as GPES
Voting for E or G over F isn't going to help keep SSIMS open, all 3 assume closure. That's no reason to be against F.
We should all pick one option to vote for among A-D (top choice if SSIMS stays open) and one option to vote for among E-G (top choice if SSIMS closes.). Really they should have set the whole survey up that way.

I don’t have a problem with arts but putting the humanities magnet at Northwood would make it a considerably more attractive possibility for my family.
With ~2000 students and ~40% FARMS, Northwood has potential to be comparable to Blair in terms of a high-achieving cohort and course offerings... unless tons of kids choose to leave for different schools.
