One of my relatives was elected to serve in the Republican party and I suspect they are very MAGA. I have not yet cut them off and I do not discuss politics with them. Now that Democrats have been declared vermin/the enemy of the state and they show no sign of breaking with the party, I am beginning to feel a sense of growing unease around them which borders on fear because they hold actual political power. Our large extended family is full of people that the Republican party punishes. I imagine this MAGA relative feels absolutely zero emotional connection between the policies they vote/advocate for and the people they claim to love. Or do they?

In my mind, they are a complete disgrace to the memory of our WW2 veteran grandfather and our entire family. Their humanity is dead and I feel a loss of integrity every time I interact with them. I hope they lose their seat in the next election and eventually FAFO.

Lashing out at liberals is a defense mechanism. I truly think most MAGA voters know on some level what a $h!t show this administration is, but there is a cognitive dissonance that they voted for this.
