I lived through this as a parent of a kid who is a 2006, June birthday. He had a great team and then things got switch to BY and he was one of only 3 kids left on his team.
DD is a early January 2009 B-Day. She played up for a couple of years and is now playing with her age group.
No matter how you slice it, there will also be those that feel that they are slighted...there has to be cutoffs somewhere. If your kid is good, they are good. They will get the eyes on them that they need.
Yeah, bio banding and what not...but my favorite example of all of this is my cousin who has one kid born on 12/31 and another born on 1/1...geez. What a difference a few hours make...
You have to goto the last page of that forum posted not the first page.
But this is a big deal which is why people argue and fight over any cut off date because it makes a huge difference for how teams will be formed.

According to that email, GA club directors should know the truth. Can someone confirm this?
I posted about it before. My DOC said to me after the GA meeting he is 99.9% certain they are switching to SY, but says the meeting "did not go into details" about the switch.
My feeling was there was some kind of gag order from the league so I didn't want to press him further, Which is now consistent with what the screen shot is saying.

About a year ago someone created an entire email then screenshoted it (so you coudnt quite tell if it was real or not) saying that SY was going to happen in the next 30 days or something like that.
The California parents called it out right away because SOCAL League was spelled So Cal League. Which was wrong on two levels. First if would be spelled SOCAL League. Second So Cal is never 2 words its always spelled Socal.
SY was announced by the masses? I’m not sure when that was sent around but obviously the info ended up being true?
Not understanding how you can say everyone’s info isn’t accurate because one person “faked” an email with factual information they came out later than stated.
You would believe someone that faked an email?

If the information was true I’d think about questioning what they posted out is all I’m saying.

Pretty sure it was talked about at the AGM that they would be changing but it was a sort of "off the cuff" remark in a broader conversation. Nothing is official, obviously, but I wouldn't just call it a "random guess" that they're going to change. It seems like a logical conclusion given everything we know so far. Some people have a vested interest in SY we get it. But with College, NWSL and potential MLS changes on the horizon literally ANYTHING can happen.

RAE mostly wouldn't be a thing for your kid. In fact your kid is a RAE survivor, where you reached the highest levels despite coaches perhaps favoring older kids on your team/club. That said, the real edge is playing with older players for all those years as well as an additional year of play would be the benefit with joining a younger team. At the same time, the risk is you may give up development opportunities in aligning with SY.
