Mom, Dad, I want to go to school in the Rust Belt! You can pay private school tuition for a factory school, but you get to brag to all your friends that is is a top school: US News says so. And I will actually get in, because it is an easier admit than actual top schools! Yay! Thanks Mom and Dad.

I can see that she will now push her client ED UM.
Wharton is T5 level difficulty. Then there is Stern. Ross is on the same level as Caroll BC. Marshall mostly west coast presence.
Ross consistently ranks above Stern.
Stop. No one cares about that stupid US news ranking.
Wharton;
Dyson, Stern, Sloan;
McDonough, Hass;
Ross is below all above.
Most everyone cares.
+100 PP just doesn’t like that Ross is ranked #4, so it is “stupid.”
I just can't understand what's so good about this move.
A public school acting like a private one?
Trying to boost yield and perceived selectivity at the cost of accessibility?
+1
Universities talk about finding the right fit and not worrying about rankings.
Then they go ahead and use every trick possible to go higher up in the rankings which they preach us to ignore.
Lying liars!

A quality college education is still accessible to Michigan residents. Michigan State has an 84% acceptance rate and has even more students than Michigan.

UCLA and Georgia tech both have very low acceptance rates what's wrong with Michigan keeping pace

Its yield this year was crazy and obviously not at all what was expected. The turmoil on campus and long range prospects didn't help.
