If she wants name recognition, go to a football school.

Having lived on both coasts, I think the majority of people are familiar with the colleges with recognizable sports teams and their region's colleges. (Of course there are some exceptions).

I would suggest to your daughter that it's great she's going to get to experience a new part of the country and those in the NE where she will be living will recognize and respect her school.

Most DCUM lac forums spend half the time with parents urging the op reconsider and instead go to a university, trashing the college, and then somehow bringing up athletics and how boys will never relate to the rest of their class, and Yadayada. Being an lac parent is so tiring here.

No, this is just what LAC parents think because they are so sensitive and insecure about it. Most of what you describe is a couple of obvious trolls. On the other hand, LAC parents will make any non-LAC thread about LACs, or 14 pages and counting here of people swearing that everyone has definitely heard of these schools, only cretins are unaware of them, etc.

LACs are the cheat code for grad school because the kids have to go to grad school to be employable. Art history, gender studies, anthro, etc. just doesn't cut it in the real world.

Do universities offer an advantage for graduates in these particular fields?
