I don't know what the right decision was. I hate the CR. But I also don't want to be like the republicans and their far right MAGAs.. and their base spewing conspiracy theories galore. All I know is that we are living in unprecedented times, and some decisions are hard. I see both sides..schumer absolutely knew his political career is on the line with his decision. Good thing I just heard DC's budget may not be cut after all..

I’m not the far left I’m an Independent and I fully agree with Democrats that Schumer needs to go.

It was clear in party caucus that many Democrats wanted to avoid the shutdown.
However, they were upset that their base would be mad at them and they would lose reelection.
Schumer asked the safest Senators to vote for cloture to protect these other members from the base. These people who voted for cloture won't lose their seats if some angry Democrats vote against them.

You don’t get cover at that small a number and especially not on something that the entire house dem caucus stayed together on and plenty of people both in the senate and in the base are against. If you want to be a line wolf than have the courage to stand alone. Especially when one of the eight is retiring.
