Not that they have shared with parents or the community. When asked, the administration has said that it is a Superintendent/BOE decision. BOE says they have no oversight on this matter. Given that Senator Zucker has secured $200,000 in publicly funded state dollars for security enhancements at the school, there is a public obligation for transparency, accountability, and collaboration with families. So far, there's been nothing of the sort.

The principal sucks...don't expect much from her in the way of advocacy, transparency, or collaboration.

Did Zucker pursue that funding for security at the school because of this rehab facility? Because he recognizes the threat it presents? Wow.

Why not just fix the problem?

Can anyone see if Zucker or Luedtke received campaign money from this company? Or watch to see if they do in the future. Or the law firm that represents the company.

Or people with commonsense will realize the elected officials who are criticizing anyone who doesn’t fall in line and allow this ridiculous nonsense are Dems who need a wake up call.

Signed,

Dem who thinks our leadership has failed us on this issue by making it partisan even though it shouldn’t be

ICYMI: our Councilmember called anyone who asked legit questions a cruel NIMBY. She’s made clear that she can’t wrap her head around why anyone has concerns.

This sort of behavior by Dems is why we lost the White House. You would think people would wake up and smell the coffee.

I think that’s what you’re hoping for, but recent history and the present time here in Montgomery County has shown exactly what will happen. The MCGOP picking this up and plastering it across a dozen Facebook groups will make it look like a partisan cause to everyone who is not directly affected. RIP to this cause, thanks to MCGOP.

Signed, a defeated Olney resident who did not want this to occur.

Huge mistake, makes it just seem like it's just about bigotry... or maybe they are just telling on themselves.

That's not fair or accurate. The coalition is made up of Greenwood parents. Period. Not Democrats or Republicans. This MCGOP is simply publicizing the issue, which would be welcome from a Democrat group too.

The word is Democratic.

Then why plaster the MCGOP all over it? They are making it about politics! And alienating a good chunk of potential supporters!

Perhaps MCGOP proactively picked up the issue and is running with it?

I mean, the elected officials attached to this are Dems…and they haven’t handled this well. I can see why the MCGOP might see this as an opportunity for their own political plans. Regardless, I suspect the local community will take any support they can, right?

I hope people understand that this issue is much bigger than this one project bordering Greenwood. This is starting to happen in other pockets of the county and will only get worse as for-profit businesses leverage gaps in our zoning laws.

A smart politician would acknowledge this and sweep in to save the day.

Bigotry? Please.

Putting addicts and mentally ill people with impulse control issues next to a school when they are at the height of their crisis and require 24/7 treatment is the issue.

It’s not about race or politics. This is just commonsense.

The reality is an out of state for-profit company has discovered our county has zoning laws with loopholes and they are leveraging that for their business purpose.

Our zoning laws were aimed at allowing small group homes to operate in neighborhoods under local, trusted nonprofits. The county surely did not envision a FL-based for-profit business (that is very likely led by MAGA Florida folks) secretly purchasing side by side houses to cycle hundreds of seriously ill people with impulse control issues in and out to make money.

It’s not a nonprofit housing program for a few people.

If you think some liberal purity test requires us to politely accept this ridiculous abuse of our zoning laws and basic commonsense, then I don’t know what to say. I mean, it’s just ridiculous and flies in the face of what is reasonable when it comes to what’s best for MoCo.

Someone should link the YouTube video. Wowza.

Elected officials should take note: people are over the county’s nonsense. Fix this now.
