Would they go??

It’s a serious contender, but it’s the first response out of 12 applications. They didn’t ED 1 anywhere, and ED 2 seems to be off the table with this acceptance in hand.

Any experience with deferral and getting in regular decision? Was this round based on metrics and now a holistic review occurs? Any insight is appreciated.

I was wondering why my OOS child had not told me the decision, then I realized they applied to Georgia Tech, not UGA . . . .

That's a lot of Bs.

She got deferred and has straight A's again, so we will see!

They'll get to see the mid-year grades for senior year.

Good point.

Problem is straight A's are a dime a dozen. Especially MCPS.

I don’t quite understand the comment…in state UGA acceptance is like 50%.

Maybe UGA and GT are converging. But UGA does not come close to Emory. I know several UGA honors students rejected from Emory last year.

Hard to compare acceptance rates and selectivity amongst the UGA, GT and Emory. They have different missions and attract different sets of applicants. All three are great though!

Yall don't this false equivalence thing a lot. All 3 are colleges, one can easily tell which is more selective than the other. If one school can attract higher caliber applicants than the others, the missions of the school does not matter.

Don’t forget the issue of cost for In-state residents. For many, UGA and GA Tech makes more sense financially than Emory
