If this incident was not related to the school and FCPS, she would not have been there. They would not want the school system attached to such a tragedy. It would have been spun as a terrible incident in the community.

No one is blaming fcps. Some Westfield families felt the school should have communicated more information yesterday.
The transfers in/out has been posted on here and yes, Westfield had a lot going out and that's just a fact. If the belligerent poster wants to dig it up, he should do that.
Do people think Westfield is bad, or just too big? And if the latter maybe they ought to slow down before they expand Centreville to 3000.
Its too big, and for a school that big, the academic offerings are minimal. All the downsides of a huge school, none if the upsides. And frankly, the building itself is just grim and depressing.
What academic offerings would you like to see Westfield offer? They offer Multi and Linear Algebra that other some FCPS schools and privates don’t offer.
They discontinued Latin recently, which was disappointing, and don’t offer AP Physics C:E&M. Aside from those, what academic courses would you like to see offered? I believe if there is enough interest in a class the school would try to offer it.
Here’s the deal…Carson and Rocky Run feed into Westfield. Rocky Run for AAP students and Carson for both AAP and boundary reasons. They are two of the best middle schools in the area. There are lots of academically bright and challenged students at Westfield. Westfield has students admitted Ivies every year.

I am relieved to hear the shooter has been caught and no longer at large. What I would still like to know is whether the shooting occurred with the 14 year olds walking home from a bus stop?
I don’t think so. There is no FCPS bus stop near a freaking hotel.
I literally was behind a bus two days ago that stopped at a hotel on Monument Drive in Fairfax. Two kids got out. This may be unhoused families or migrant families.
There was once a kid who moved into a hotel near my house. The middle school bus route had to change for the 2 months she lived there. Then it went back to the original route.

Its not really clear. Someone said the hotel was right near a bus stop. One of the kids might have been living in the hotel, so they could have walked there after getting off the bus. Or they could have skipped school that day and just been hanging out.

Oh good we have someone who knows all the bus stops in the county![]()

Now there are some saying it was near an FCPS bus stop. We don’t know. All we know is the shooter is a loser.

The email from the principal Wednesday night was a form letter about a student death. No context. No details. It was more alarming to later hear a student was murdered and another shot at. I don’t blame the principal for not saying more, it was an active investigation at the time.
What I don’t appreciate is principal not addressing kids being questioned by police officers - were their parents even notified? Or the TV cameras outside the school for the past two days. Or whether the incident took place on the victims way home from school. Perhaps some of this needs to come home from FCPD, but more communication is needed with Westfield parents.
I’m sorry for the victims and their families, truly. However, I want to know my child is safe at school and to/from schools. They still have not addressed if the victims were in school Wednesday and walking home from bus.
