I listen to a lot of people from different background. Those construction workers have learned that getting involved will send them to jail.

The D.C. Council has the ability to hold hearings about the USAO. They did this when they thought Jessie Liu was prosecuting too few hate crimes, and successfully got her to increase the prosecution of hate crimes. Nope. USAO doesn't really talk with the City agencies, they just release whenever they want. MPD now has a degenerate no-work culture because USAO just releases the criminals they worked to bust. MPD doesn't want to do their job.

It's a toxic negative feedback loop between USAO and MPD.

The DC Appeals Court has also had some pretty ridiculous recent gun rulings so now its quite difficult for USAO to get a conviction on an illegal firearm charge - MPD basically has to come in with video recorded evidence and the officer has to state his probable cause before effectuating the arrest.

It's insane how much the judicial branch of the US government is trying to single-handedly release criminals to run rampant on DC.

Is there seriously no coordination in DC to figure out when a person needs to be involuntarily committed? I get the legal barriers to doing so, but it seems like the case could have been made for this guy long ago.
