I disagree that Michelle Obama, Salma, and Lupita are the “quiet” wealth style. They may worn some outfits that fit the bill but that’s not their style.

We can each have our own opinions I named them because they always look incredibly well groomed and elegant in public, and have a serene classiness to their style and look. Lupita I mainly have seen in dresses at awards shows and she is innately quietly stylishly elegant (imo). Notwithstanding whatever descriptors are being used on this thread, I don’t think the answer to OP’s question is tied to race or size or hair color - it is tied to wealth, though.

Salma and Lupita dress in a very sexy way which isn’t the same type of style being discussed here.

That is completely false. Curls are always in.

People complement when they see you have made a huge effort to look "different." It doesn't mean they don't love your curls, they are just politely acknowledging your change.

It's a few simple things:

- well fitting clothes; not too tight, not too loose; sometimes requires tailoring, but not always; often it's just the right fit with well made clothes. If you aren't wealthy, and you want this look, buy less, but spend more per item to get things that are well tailored and look nice. Learn which well tailored brands look good on you (go try on the expensive stuff), and then look for them on consignment. Avoid trendy on sale items.

-don't try to dress sexy. When people pose the question OP asks, they inevitably post photos of people wearing blazers.

- Wear appropriate undergarments and get fitted for a bra.

- get a hair style that suits your natural hair; don't over do it trying to look like someone else.

- wear make up designed to look like you at your best, not made up you.

- take care of your nutrition, sleep, and skin.

Not all rich people have it but… I think part of it is being completely unbothered by the state of the world and being able to control your life, due to wealth. There’s no hustling or worrying about what people think when you have the wealth and power.

Ugh -- that "quiet wealth" look is just so joyless. Whenever I see someone who looks like that, I just sort of assume that they are on a boat-ton of anti-depressants. It's such a strange thing to aspire to. There are ways to be understated, but not bland.

And to the poster above with the perfect curls? Girl, that is your crowning glory -- why on earth would you want to hide that? To adhere to some imagined "ideal" of what "classy" people look like? You can be "classy" while still expressing your individuality and style. That is what "chic" is.
