Well, my first, a girl, was stillborn. Of course I miss her and what could have been. Her little brother is a joy. I can love him to the moon and miss her all at once.

Nope. All boys and haven’t ever wished I had a girl. I leaned into what my kids liked when they were little, showed them things I liked, and we’ve formed our bonds. Now a days they do what they want, I make sure to talk to them each alone when it makes sense, and we all come together as family for things like dinner, movie nights, and other outings. If I could just get them to respond to text messages consistently we’d be golden.

I’ve never experienced this feeling but my boys are young (2, 4, 6) so who knows.

There is some very very twisted thinking on this thread. I'm so thankful my spouse and I don't view our children this way. We have the children we were meant to have and we adore them and they us. There is nothing to regret. Who lives life this way???!

My husband doesn’t have any sons, and if it bothers him or makes him “wistful” he hasn’t expressed it to me. I even offered to have another baby and he said it was not an issue. He is as close to the kids as I am.

Guy here. There is ZERO chance your husband does not wish he had a son. But he obviously doesn’t want a son enough to also want an additional kid (which may not even end up being a boy), so he made the right call

Why does a husband need to wish for a son any more than a wife needs to wish for a daughter? Some people truly just pray for a happy healthy family. I know that’s hard for some of you to believe.

I know plenty of girl dads who are clearly happy with the kids they have. Don't generalize or stereotype, it's stupid.

It's this simple. Guys have family pride. If you have only daughters, they will eventually not share your name and your grandkids and great grandkids will not share your name. Daughters only means the end of your family line. Very sad

So a last name is the only thing that keeps the family line going?? I don’t think so.

Weird. Woman here. I kept my name. My kids have hyphenated last names (both girls), but don't plan on changing their name when they marry. in fact, of my 9 female cousins, only 3 have changed their names. You must have a very old fashioned family.
