It's a good time to teach your kid that they have a choice to participate. They also have a choice to celebrate themself and others or be pissed and spiteful that people do better than them. Which would you wish your child to do?

What I’ve literally never heard of it and I’m from super fancy upper crusty-ness. It’s totally gauche to brag about where you are going to go school. Sweatshirts are for weekend chores after you’ve graduated.

And screw anyone who talks down yo MC students. As a college professor, I promise you the students who transfer
from CCs are the hardest working and most insightful. And they know the value of their education.

I went to a prep school filled with kids obsessed with going to Ivy and Ivy+ colleges. Yes, kids wore hoodies from their colleges. No, the school never sent out anything encouraging it.

So no — it’s not all schools.

Not bad in and of itself but geez. My kid is likely going to UMD and has already received a number of snarky comments. On waitlist that won't get off of while kid x, y, z parades in and out with a Michigan sweatshirt daily.

Why does this idiot school allow this? What is wrong with these people? Isn't the instagram they are exposed to daily bad enough???

Stop the madness. It's cruel to some of these kids who are not thrilled with college decision.

There is 0.0 chance any kid from Whitman mocked a UMD sweatshirt or admission. People are gullible here and adore their stereotypes.

We did it at North Babylon HS. Class of '92. Go Bulldogs! It was celebratory and fun. And I went to a no-name college.

Life isn't fair.

Teach your kid a lesson here. Who cares where they go. Anyone can be successful regardless of where they go to college, or if they even go to college. Shelter your kids from the reality of world is the one thing that will hold you back.

If your kids can't take it, then you did something wrong.

Heck, when I graduated from a Fairfax Co. public school ages ago we did the same thing. Everyone wore the tshirt of where they were accepted and photos were taken. Imagine doing that in the 90s when not everyone went to college!
