THIS. Duh. See you back here in a couple when he runs for statewide office.
I was in TX with a prominent former D politico. He said that many folks are switching parties b/c they have no chance as a Dem. It isn't really about R beliefs. They want to stay in politics.
Mayor Johnson was JUST re-elected. In May. With a whopping 93% of the vote.
This isn't about "staying in politics" for Johnson. It is about beliefs and how bat$hit crazy the Dems have become.
+1
But he was actually re-elected with 98.7% of the vote. He is very clearly doing something right.

Because he ran as a Democrat and Republicans didn’t field a candidate because they probably had already arranged and paid for him to switch after the election. He couldn’t win the election running as a Republican but he couldn’t get into the Texas corrupt patronage network as a Democrat. This is just Texas being Texas.
That’s quite the conspiracy theory there, but no. Nice try.
I’ve been around Southern politics a long time. Every Democratic elected official who has switched parties first negotiated a deal for Republican support for a higher office or appointment to a patronage position. Every one.

The fix is in. So many of these losers are switching just after they’re elected. That’s not a change of opinion, that is paid off.

Tell us about how Colin Allred, a Democrat from the Dallas area won election to Congress.
Face it - you don't want to admit that this was his decision because he sees what the Democratic party is becoming.
So he’s going to unseat Allred? Or is Allred retiring?
I have no idea. My comment was in response to ...."He cannot even win a Congressional seat as a Dem. TX split all of the cities into different districts."
My point was that a different Dem has already accomplished what pp said couldn't be done.
Sure but there are only so many districts where the numbers are favorable for that. I’m sure he’s looking down the road and doing some math. Either way it’s not a bad thing. The republicans aren’t going to fix their own party, maybe having dems join will help.
If you’re paid/blackmailed into doing something, you’re not there to fix the systemic problems. You’ve become part of the problem.
This is hilarious.
You refuse to believe that people are leaving the Democratic party because they have become so insane that you accuse them of being paid or blackmailed. Just keep believing that as your party bleeds more people.
