The mom wants to stay because the OP is obviously crazy.

Many parents will stay and not bother to tell OP they are staying. OP is insane.

This is OP. This is basically what I'm planning to do. I may just "forget" to respond to her text. If she shows up and stays, fine, but I'm not there to entertain her.

She's not there to be entertained by you, LOL. She's there to keep an eye on her kid because she knows you're a flake who cannot be trusted to watch others' kids. Other parents are going to stay too, they just haven't given you the heads up. And trust me, all the other moms also know you can't be trusted to watch kids. You give that vibe.

You give off a vibe of a helicopter mom to a hilarious brat that no one likes (either of you) and is only invited because OP is forced to invite the entire class.

What? The mom wants to come because her kid has anxiety. Geez. And no one made OP invite the class. This thread is really off the rails. Choose to be kind, OP. You should be teaching your children this, so lead by example.

I guess I understand why the mom wanted to attend. OP sounds basically feral and her children are probably monsters.

Oh stop it OP. You sound dumber and dumber.

Exactly this.

Sorry if I missed all the many pages of twists and turns.

Yes, this is what most parents would do, and the right answer.

Of course.

We've been to/hosted second grade parties this year, and there are often parents hanging around, especially if the venue is large with lots of exits. They don't ask permission, and they don't need permission; they either hang out on their phones or socialize with other parents who as also sticking around. When we hosted our second grader's birthday, I enjoyed socializing with the parents i know and am friendly with - I also chatted with people who are not in my immediate circle but who were hanging out at the venue...because I am a normal person with basic social skills. OP I would recommend a social skills class for you, because really, at your age you should be able to handle the fact that the parent of an invited classmate will remain present at your birthday venue.

Every parent knows who the flaky parents are in their child's class. If you don't, you're one of the flakes.

DP but this is so oddly mean-girl-specific that this scenario is obviously not fiction. You’re projecting a bit too much!
