So some of you actually think that no student loan borrowers will ever have to make payments again? Like ever? Like college will just become free in the US? I’m really confused…

Oh this is for sure what we are doing. My kids will max out all of their college loans and should the time come where they ever actually need to repay them (according this board, unlikely), we will make the payments for them at that time. I'm definitely not going to be the schmuck in this game because we scrimped and saved all these years for college while others were out leasing luxury SUV's and remodeling their kitchens. Nope.

Please do. Your kids will enjoy having their loans count against them when they apply for a car, mortgage, home equity loan, or refinance. But maybe you are going to pay all of that for your kids anyway.

But student loan payments are NEVER resuming! Just ask the people on this board! And I'd be more than happy to co-sign a loan.

Student loan forgiveness/pause is overwhelmingly a gift to white people, what are you talking about

Black Women overwhelmingly have the most student loan debt.

Well, at least their kids will have a credit score.

Just have them get a CC and use it.

If you think that’s the best plan you should do it. Best of luck to you.

Stop with the fear mongering as a means to argue that loans people willingly took out should suddenly be forgiven when people who never had the opportunity to attend college don't get anything. At least the person with the student loan presumably has a degree, giving her a better chance at larger lifelong earning. 45 million Americans have federal student loans. Our population is 340million--voting age Americans are around 260 million. Of those 45 million loan holders let's say 1/4 of them kept paying down principal throughout the pandemic. Those people aren't going to be thrilled that the other 3/4, who chose to spend the money they would have spent on paying their loans on funding their eating out/vacationing lifestyles, instead are going to feel shafted. Then of those 3/4 there are many who are on the on the PSLF track who are working off their debts who will also chafe at the no-payers getting their loans forgiven for doing nothing. And then of course you have the loan holders who have advanced degrees and are now working as doctors and lawyers who are making the kind of money that makes loan forgiveness an absurd proposition. Really, the pool of loan holders who are counting on complete forgiveness and droning on about the economy and presidential elections are ridiculous. if you want to make this political, the political risks are much higher for candidates that champion wholesale loan forgiveness. For every loan holder who is demanding forgiveness there are several Americans who do not agree.

Your kid gets tuition, room & board paid for by mommy & daddy.

Be aware that many of your child’s college classmates are on their own; working, getting meager scholarships and taking out loans.

Why are you paying credit card bills? You should max them out at Versace. Imagine making fashion decisions without cost concerns

You can declare bankruptcy on cc debt.

Go for it if you think it makes sense.
