Also, would be interested in strengths and weaknesses of STA coaching.
primary weakness=head coach who thinks he can win by focusing on a single player. Only star was allowed to shoot. No investment in other players and development of the team overall. Known to be verbally harsh, dresses dowjn players for stupid sht not related to playing ball. comtrol freak who doesnt listen to his asst coaches who. Are better coaches. Given feedback after two varsity teams had 1/3 of players quit team. Seeing a little more shooting from other players this season. Still a focus on the star recruit.
JV team did well last year with solid coaching from asst coach.

Their sports are horrible. If you never want to win at any sport go here.
Really? Their basketball team is ranked 15th in the nation, and just defeated Gonzaga. Their softball team is the top program in the area. Their baseball team is very competitive in the WCAC. Usually very solid in soccer, hockey, golf and tennis.
They never win the WCAC in any sport? Not even golf.

Sports yes, academics no.
Are DeMatha academics subpar or simply not as good as the other schools mentioned here? Not OP but curious for DS looking for similar opportunities.
DeMatha academics are very good if they are honors/AP level
+1 and also SAES.
Dematha and St. Andrew's are not strong academically.

STA is trying, but there are things that the top basketball players don’t want to put up with that are going on at STA, and STA can’t keep these top players.
What would they be putting up with at STA that they wouldn't be at Sidwell?
