Seeing the stats gives me pause, b/c if my child goal was just to get into the lower tier top25 we could’ve just stayed local. Unfortunately my child has no hooks.
I’m seriously considering a private consultancy service to gain advantage in this hyper competitive arms race. It’s already 80k a year for tuition, not to mention time spent for child away us parents. At this point, what’s another 30-50k?
Sigh

Actually, it looks like the smart thing to do if your goal is to get your child into a top school would be send your child to Whitman!! And, gasp, you don’t have to pay for it! I’d be interested to see Churchill’s list, too.
Sending a kid to a high school or boarding school does not give any better chance. At all.
You have to think about it this way...the stats get you a ticket to the arena. However, the arena is full with 25,000 others who have the same or similar records and only a few will get back stage passes. So from the entry to the arena, it is a lottery to get back stage. There is really not much anyone can do to game that last lottery.

@bccdecisions23
Is Vandy super popular among different schools this year especially?
What is QO’s page?

Uhh. I find these social media postings creepy. Why would these schools do this? It's one thing to list the schools where your students got accepted, but it's another to post poofed up pictures of young men and women for the entire universe to gawk over. I expect children to do this stuff. Not grown adults.
It almost feels like some creepy modeling agency.
By the way, my kid's MCPS high school could post a bunch of Ivy and T20 ED accepted posts too, but they don't.
+1. This is such a poor taste I don't know where to begin. DC's MCPS school had a fair share of Ivy and T10 too last year. They don't do this. In fact one of the teachers gently reminds kids to take his peers' emotions into account.
Are you always such a stick in the mud, PP? I love the posts and am happy for the kids. Sorry that is so hard for you to see.
My kid got into an Ivy early and they would NEVER think of posting. Very braggy.
Oh please. It's a life milestone. Congratulations to your kid. I'm happy for him/ her, even if you like to feign humility. We're not all so fragile, PP, that we can't handle someone else's good news.
You know quite well it isn't the parents who those posts impact. A lot of kids have a rough ride ahead and I guess you're the type who would just walk over them to announce your success. Sickening.
Kids generally know where their classmates are going. You think seeing it posted on social media impact them even if they already know?

You are a moron. The public schools all have them too.
