All the SAHMs I know have house cleaners. Some more frequently than I do as a full time WOHM.

Yeah, but we're using our house all day. My house was much cleaner when I worked and my kids were at day care, not at home destroying my furniture with crayons.

to 6/5 21:59 - it's not that there's nothing to do if I SAH. It's that I'd much rather WOH, and that WOH benefits my family ever so much more, than any leisure activities I could fill that time with.

i have a friend who's slowly moved from a great WOH job to part time to finally becoming a SAHM. When she asked me how many hours I worked, I said, 48 or 50. She said, a week? And I said, yes, that's probably less than your husband works.

There's such a double standard among some diehard sahms. It's ok for their DHs to work 50+ hours per week, but they can't imagine a mother of young children working that hard. She couldn't get her 2 hours in at the gym if she did work those kinds of hours <major eyeroll>.

to 11:10 on 6/4 - I work 50 hours a week and I love it. I don't need any more balance.

I'm in my 40s and have everything I've ever wanted, personally and professionally. That is much more fulfilling to me than having a flexible work schedule so I can have more downtime.

I also know why I'm working - to send my kids to college, to be able to retire at a good age with enough money to live comfortably. I work for the reasons all the husbands out there are working, and the reasons our fathers worked full time.

why do you care what we do all day? But for the record I will tell you. I clean my spotless house, do the laundry, grocery shop, cook, take care of any thing that needs to be done out of the house, pay the bills if needed, volunteer at my children's school, take and pick my children up from school and then to sports. Basically I am a full time maid, cook, taxi driver and sex partner for my husband. There it is, any other questions?

To Adequate Parent, if you're not busy, don't bitch about how you don't have enough money. I bust my ass so I can be close to my kids and husband and friends, volunteer in my community, stay in shape and have plenty of money.

"Not possible. You are working. You're not taking care of your children. So not possible to "do all this" as you say. I am doing "all this" AND taking care of my children full time."

When kids are in school, it's very possible to do "all that" and WOH FT. Okay, we use about 7 hours a week of aftercare to "do it all." BFD.

To 22:13 from 6/3 - imagine the satisfaction of raising your children AND bringing home a paycheck big enough to support the whole family! My kids are in school. Kids don't need a parent around 24/7, even as newborns. Just my opinion.
