I’m surprised Carol isn’t watching the kids while Kate goes. Unless it has something to do with Meghan not going.
It was their first day at a new school and it sounds like things turned quickly.

She ruled for 70 years. That is an era if there ever was one. The second Elizabethan era.

At almost 6:30pm UK time on the dot.
Yup, they embargoed the story until 18:30 GMT.
She probably died hours ago.
I think they waited for William, Edward, and old fart sniffer to get up to her room. But purposefully announced before Harry arrived.

It's literally one of the first things that happen after her death. So yeah, that's why they are assembling hastily. It would also explain why Kate and Meghan are not present - they are not needed as part of the formal transition of power to Charles.
How did this work when Elizabeth's father died and she became queen while she was traveling in Kenya? Is it really a requirement to have the direct relatives pledge loyalty immediately?

Could you please help us novices understand more by connecting people's titles and their names, for example, "Countess of Wessex (Sophie, Edward's wife)" ? This family tree is a little confusing!
