It is nuts to not know how to cook things from scratch and have a limited palate. We buy in bulk the following items and some of them are shelf stable for years.

- rice
- quinoa
- lentils and beans
- flours (whole wheat, chickpea, amaranth, millets)
- oils (olive, ghee, mustard, peanut)
- spices (not ground spice mix. I grind the spices fresh, I can keep these seeds for years)
- tea
- salt
- honey

We also keep a good amount of raw nuts and seeds, protein and butter in the freezer. We have a cold storage that contains onions, garlic, ginger, potatoes. We have enough for a couple months and we keep replenishing it. Other than that, we are capable of making any food taste great because we are good home cooks and we cook from scratch.

I'm concerned about medicine shortages. A key medicine that I rely on is manufactured in China. It's prescription and there is no generic brand.

DP but most people let them go to waste.

The proper method is to get a stockpile however much you want, and rotate it, using the oldest while replenishing the same amount you use with new stuff.

Basically the same thing all grocery stores do.

Food shortages due to a variety of reasons. China, trade wars, inflation, panic buying, ripple effect from 2020-2021 shutdowns, closures, WFH, etc.
