This does not in any way, at all, suggest that the right wing is racist and hypocritical. No no, I'm just saying it's a funny coincidence.
IF this "science" was ending the pandemic (which it didn't) or was truly lifesaving (mortality figures in 2021 were not indicative of this compared to 2020 when everyone was unvaxed) then I don't think you would need to shove it down people's throats. And this isn't about USA at all, it's worldwide.

What if they never would be vaccinated? Did you stop to think why they withdrew the application after the initial trials? I listened to the entire FDA panel on EUA shots for 5+ kids and it didn't inspire confidence in me that it's the intervention needed for this age category due to low risk and inability to quantify the benefit. It was also concerning to hear that we won't have long term data until we literally start giving it en masse to our little kids. There was no emergency from listening to this entire panel

Blocking traffic I generally don't support beyond a slow roll, but if they want to park up on the Mall, block entrances to buildings, etc. I'm all for it.
So, you want them to block access to the free museums in DC? The ones I take my kids to?
Are you aware that this access is blocked for all the children in NYC ages 5+ who are not yet double vaccinated? Are you ok with this? Are you aware that child vaccines are not yet FDA approved and are under EUA and cannot be mandated?
So the truckers are protesting the New York City government for requiring vaccines for children over 5 to go to public places?
News to me! I thought they were clogging up the Beltway!
Do you have proof that they intend to completely block all access to DC? There was a protest before and there was nothing about election results or other BS propaganda you are talking about there. It was for medical choice and allowing the doctors to treat the patients on an individual basic instead of mandating vaccines that don't stop transmission for everyone indiscriminately under the duress of loss to amenities, jobs and education. My guess is that truckers want the mandates to become officially illegal to enforce in any part of the country, it would be great if this goes to SCOTUS and gets banned there unless it's something like Black Plague where bodies are literally piling up in the doorways and it makes sense to declare emergency. I think you wouldn't need to be coercing people into vaccination or locking up then anyway![]()
Almost 1 million dead.
And that is relevant to what? That number is very small. We came through this pandemic strong.

Crickets so far from Virginia. If I’m the truckers, I head to the Virginia side of the Beltway because they don’t seem prepared to deal with it.
This just fires them up and plays right into the whole "government is against us". They want to be the victims.
This.

Victims of a "crisis" that they themselves created. Brilliant.

This seems to be the point. Everything is "open" and most places don't require even proof of vaccination. Even MoCo is dropping mandatory masks.
It's like a protest in search of a cause. Unless they just want to be victims and feel persecuted. This does seem to be the end game with a lot of conservatives.
1) not everything is "open": school kids are still masked event though adults can gather indoors in unlimited numbers unmasked. NYC, SF and some other cities still have vaxxports and NYC even has it for 5 year oldsfor whom this vaccine isn't FDA approved yet. NYC has all private employer vax mandate that even OSHA could not push through for large employers. CA schools are just now removing OUTDOOR mask mandates for the school kids. People in some professions are required to get boosters and many students who are double-vaxed AND Covid recovered are forced to take unnecessary boosters. One of my relatives now needs to see a cardiologist after her booster.
2) Even if mandates are lifted in many places and people in some places are pretty much back to old normal, these measures can easily come back next winter and every flu season for no real emergency. Emergency can be declared for any reasons now, the threshold is very low. And we know emergency powers can be used to enforce any sort of restrictions.
I am not a concervative and never was, but i have no interest to live in a permanent state of "emergency" and fear propaganda and hope we would be "allowed" to live our lives and especially maintain our bodily autonomy and freedom of movement.
Feel free to move.

A trucker protest or strike is no joke. They are essential workers who transport gas, food, medications.
Same with teachers. Medical professionals. Sanitation workers. Farm laborers. Flight attendants. Food production workers.
Workers of the world, unite!
100%
I'd like to see a mass walk-out of these professions.
What basically amounted to a sickout by air traffic controllers ended the longest government shutdown in American history.
If teachers walked out I would fire every single one. Same with everyone else mentioned except medical professionals. All can be replaced just like air traffic controllers in the 80s.

Agree. DC is just not going to put up with this. And rightly so.
What will you be doing about it?
DP - I’ve got an aluminum baseball bat, and will not hesitate to use it on the horn and windshield of any truck blowing it near my condo. That’s what I’ll be doing about it.

Hope y'all are proud to have your movement led by a guy who's literally a criminal scumbag.
Who are you even talking to? I doubt there are many truckers on this website. It's not "our movement" - but they have every right to protest, wouldn't you agree? Sure you would.
Right to protest? Sure. Right to block traffic for hundreds of thousands of everyday workers? Hell no.
That is within the right to protest. Now could they be arrested for breaking the law. Sure.
Idiots think they can just decide what their rights and the Constitution are. Sorry, but welcome to reality - rights and the Constitution have real meaning. It is not a right, nor Constitutional, to intentionally use a bunch of big trucks to clog interstate highways as a political stunt. That is illegal, even if it is a "protest."
Of course it is illegal. So was the march on the Edmund Pettus bridge which shut down traffic. So were MLK's marches in a number of cities. So were the anti-South Africa protests in the 1980s. So was Occupy Wallstreet. So were the BLM marches over the last couple of years. So were the anti-Vietnam war sit-ins.
That's not the point. Of course they will be arrested. They have a right to their protest. That right comes with getting arrested. That is the American tradition.
That is unless you want to take the view that all of those protests should not have happened.
There is a difference between a scheduled point to point protest march lasting part of a day and a plan to occupy and obstruct transportation and commerce for a week or weeks. There is also a huge difference between protesting racial oppression and the racist police state of 1960s Alabama and protesting basic traditional public health measures that don’t harm or discriminate against anyone. This is a more extreme action and it’s for the stupidest cause.
No there is not and that is the point. You have to be ok with a KKK/Nazi rally if you are okay with a BLM rally. Not okay in the sense you agree but ok in the sense that it has a right to occur. Where is the evidence that this is anything other than a march? They have no plans to block traffic for weeks.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Can they be stopped before ever getting anywhere to disrupt?
Yes they can. DOT can mess up things for them easily.
And how would they do that?
1. They have no enforcement people.
2. It would be illegal to stop them. Why? Because they might do something?
