Except there are many of us who don’t fall into the shape of your MAGA caricature. We dutifully wore our masks when mandated, and got our vaccines when they became available. You need to give up the Trump card, seriously.

They won't, though. They're hanging on to their Trump card (nice one, btw) and MAGA caricatures for dear life because it's all they have in the face of Biden's failures and Covid becoming endemic. Life will go back to normal, but they simply can't bear the thought of losing whatever power they think they have over the rest of us.
Youngkin and other Republicans are attacking masks and public safety measures for no genuinely good reason other than politics. Fine if you don't want to hear it tied to MAGA or Trumpism but what you cannot do is claim public health measures haven't been assaulted, undermined and politicized by the right wing in completely new and unprecedented ways.
And for people on the left, it has nothing to do with science or public health, either. For you, a mask is just a symbol to your fellow travelers about how virtuous you are. It’s no different than a MAGA hat.

No, sorry. I reject your assertions. Youngkin has not attacked public safety measures in any way. He has encouraged everyone to get vaccinated - repeatedly. What he is not going to do is MANDATE the wearing of masks (or vaccines). But by all means, continue to mask up indefinitely. Just don't try and order others to do the same.

And this is case in point for the overwrought and over dramatic perception of risk many of us don’t share with you.
We don’t care about your personal risk assessment, you don’t get to decide whether you catch a disease or not and you don’t get to decide that if you have a disease that you are not going to pass it on and who you pass it on to.
And you don’t get to decide that other people need to follow your personal rules on mask wearing.
I haven’t said that you need to wear a mask. I have said repeatedly that it is a courtesy and people who don’t wear them for the 35 minutes inside Walmart they are the type of people who a pound of hamburger in the toy section when they change their mind about it.
NP. That cloak of righteousness must get so heavy. Wow. You make all kinds of assumptions about someone who is saying that at this point in time, mask wearing has become theatrics and politics, with very little science-based rationale...FFS, even the state of NJ is about to change their mask restrictions in a few weeks. You guys just can't let it go. You wear those masks like a badge of honor, despite studies coming out more recently questioning just how much protection they offer (other than an N-95...lemme guess, you're so virtuous you've been wearing one of those for the past two years JUST to protect your community, amirite?!). Stop acting like everyone around you is going to die if you take that damn mask off, and stop acting like you get extra points for throwing the word "selfish" in. I vaxxed, masked, distanced, kept my kid inside, stopped seeing friends and relatives...I did everything I was supposed to do and we are now evolving to a point where the masks are no longer necessary. You've lost all credibility.

Sounds like you want a mandate if your main problem is with “personal rules”. The quickest way to avoid mandates would be voluntary compliance. Yoi don’t seem to grasp this point.
No, the quickest way to avoid mandates is to just get rid of mandates. Which is what’s happening around the country and the world.
You’re still free to wear a mask forever, if you’d like.
You seem to think that masks have become some kind of fetish. Not surprising from a group who made them a litmus test for "Freedumb" from the get-go.
Nobody "likes" wearing a mask. What they dislike is a bunch of people with the emotio0nal maturity of a teenager making health decisions for others because "you're not my real dad". That's really all this comes down to - you don't want to, so you're going to prolong this for everyone else because you're nopthing more than a selfish git. You're not a hero, you're not "owning the libs", you're just someone stomping their feet and holding their breath because you think you're making a statement.
I’m not really trying to make a statement, or own anyone or do anything of that sort. It’s just clear to me that masks are total theater, and I have no desire to play along with it just to make people like you feel more comfortable. And, in the places where I live and spend most of my time, there’s no requirement for me to follow the rules you made up in your head.
I’m not angry at people like you. At most, I can muster up some indifference, maybe.
You are spreading misinformation. You are wrong that masks are “theater” and that they are only used to make people “feel conforrable”
From the Mayo Clinic:
“Can face masks help slow the spread of the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)? Yes.”
