Pretty much this. Gun culture is a toxic societal disease, especially when it becomes a critical part of your identity or a crutch for self-confidence.

Bullying is not an excuse for murdering people. His parents could have address their concerns with the school or removed him from the school.

Bullying is no excuse.

No one knows the motive yet because the shooter and his parents are lawyer'd up and not talking to police.

So knock off the discussion right now. We don't know. A few student statements are saying that he was "bullied" but there's zero details on what that means, extent and frequency of bullying, etc.

Most common cause of school shootings is access to guns.

With 911 slowly fading away, a gun is my only protection from rape or home invasion robbery.

Actually, my son a classmate who “felt bullied” by things like other kids winning a game in PE and as a result threatened to kill them on the regular.

Most school and workplace shootings don’t happen in a vacuum. These kids lash out in these cases because they’ve been teased, bullied and ostracized their whole lives, and they reach their breaking point and go supernova.

You see things like this and it scares you, because it makes you consider the things you did to other children when you were younger. Or what you suspect your own kids are doing to a classmate right now. You think about what would happen if one of their victims snaps. You don’t actually care about the victim - you just care about that victim lashing out.
