Man there are a BUNCH of writers who I have lost respect for in the aftermath of this. So much mental gymnastics to justify why Larson's bad behavior is actually fine.

No. I wold never do this. I am a published author with a major big 5 publisher -- albeit not literary fiction, I write thrillers -- and I would never do this and none of the other thriller/mystery writers I know have done anything like this as far as I know. And yes, we talk a lot about where we get ideas etc.

We are all chitchatty on social media (I am talking some bestselling authors here) and everyone is very kind and no one punches down like this. At all.

I find this behavior shocking. But I am older than these women -- in my fifties.

I think there is a bigger issue that they haven't really looked at

Dawn is from Iowa and grew up poor. She may have gone to Harvard but was unpublished and pretty unsophisticated and always harping on about her roots.

Sonya was sophisticated and successful. She thought she could fuk Dawn over, make a big joke about it in her writers group and get away with it.

Sonya underestimated the grit of the poor and more so, the deep seated resentment of the poor and unsuccessful. That's. why she was sued - before they even discovered the plagiarism of the "letter".

Both are losers, sad, nasty women. I wish I'd never read it. And I'm a professional writer who has worked with other writers for the past 30 + years, as a writer and an agent and I know about copyright.

I'm sorry, but the more and more I read about this, the more it becomes crystal clear that Sonya Larson was absolutely the villain in this, and her larger posse of writer friends were absolutely terrible, and enabling.
