I would say accepting and retaining the position of Trump's VP pretty much sealed my thoughts about Mike Pence, and nothing I've seen or heard since then has convinced me that he is a better person than that. The "mother" jokes are a way to blow off steam faced with the true horror of who those people are and what they did.

Ah, Mike Pence has a shady history people look it up.

We have campaign finance laws because of his shadiness. He is the poster child for why we have them.

While he did nothing "illegal" at the time it was shady as hell. He used campaign finances for his own personal gain. He also tried to kill off anyone who is homosexual and literally could not care about anyone else but himself. So yes sub-human fits.

Trump tapped him for VP because not to many others wanted the job and he needed another con man criminal to work with. Indiana was done with Pence he would have been out of politics.

just stop it. Pence saved our nation. Until the hearings are over, just shut up. (you can go back to insulting him after they are over)

He doesn’t get a complete pass, because he considered this cockamamie sh|t seriously enough to get a lot of advice about it.

Let’s be honest, it wouldn’t have made a difference in the second impeachment. Trump himself could have been a witness in the 2nd impeachment and told the step by step his plans for the coup and the vast majority of R’s would have voted in favor of him.

Yeah. I'm the PP that said this is jaw-dropping but I'm not sure it matters. I don't think Merrick Garland charging people with crimes would make a difference either.

The GOP isn't really a political party anymore. It's a populist movement and doesn't intend to be constrained by law, procedure, or norms.

“Populist” still has connotations of hard jawed, straight thinking, honest people who just buck the system. They’re not that. The GOP has never been that. Call them authoritarian or fascist, but they left “populism” in the dust.

They do seem to be authoritarianist, if that is defined as believing the strong should take what they want, and the opposite is "rule of law". How can the American people not understand that rule of law is essential to prosperity? That nobody will build up small businesses if the rich/powerful/strong can use force to take it away? Eventually, all authoritarian regimes become masses of poverty. The west, with the emphasis on rule of law, has found the only way for wide spread prosperity.

The death penalty needs to be on the table. The GOP has spent enough years pushing it, saying it’s the only thing that will dissuade copy cats. So let’s let them have it since they were willing to commit sedition.

Since one Republican managed to derail the whole subject, here’s the main point of the above article: “Mr. Eastman pressed a Pennsylvania state lawmaker in December 2020 to carry out a plan to strip Mr. Biden of his win in that state by applying a mathematical equation to accepting the validity of mail ballots, which were most heavily used by Democrats during the pandemic, according to emails from Mr. Eastman released under a public records request by the University of Colorado Boulder, which employed him at the time.”

It is absolutely cheating. They will do it again worse if they are allowed.

I’m not sure why you’re shouting at us all but: anyone who votes for the GOP this time is a fascist. “Just recount until we win” is not democracy, nor is most of the voting related crap the GOP undertakes.

That is confusing. Votes recounts are an official process. Why would we have a process for something that is against the democratic process?

What are you confused about? Eastman wasn't asking for a recount, he was asking for the votes to be recounted in Trump's favor. That's not democracy.

Unless he said "jimmy rig the recount and add votes for Trump" or "take away votes for Biden" it isnt corruption. You can use authorized processes as much as you want. It is futile, but not corrupt.

Except he did say to take away votes from Biden. He suggested throwing out all the absentee ballots and deduct votes in proportion to what was believed to be the partisan breakdown. He wasn't even proposing throwing out individual votes but an estimate of what he thought the breakdown was.

Yeah, that's corrupt, if they were to have done that. I'm simply saying that asking for a recount isnt a problem.

He didn't simply "ask for a recount." He was directing the preordained outcome of extra-legal administrative procedures - not defined in any law! - to throw out enough ballots to ensure a victory for Trump.

I'm serious when I say this guy should be put against the wall and dealt with.

That would be murder, Ma'am. We have a procedure for this. Those allegations are being investigated and if there is sufficient evidence, there will be a trial.

Dp- There will hopefully be a trial and he will be found guilty. The death penalty should absolutely be on the table.

If someone can get 20 years in Texas for a lesser offense, the death penalty should be on the table for overthrowing a presidential election.
