The team was always competitive and played with and sometimes beat the best teams in the country with many kids each year going to top D1 programs. The alumni record speaks for itself. While DCE, NL, and Madlax are all really good clubs, I never thought to move. One the drive is not worth it with VLC in the back yard. VLC kids were always more blue collar. More public school kids with some private school but had a humble attitude. Many did not want the culture of a Madlax. If you can play it does not matter which club you play for you can get recruited if that is the goal. It seems like the newer parents or families from CAV must be a different culture. Old VLC would turn away a toxic family. The formula worked they should stick with what works.

Cab (like almost everyone else) does not give a sh*t about VLC. Seriously, no one wants those kids.

Once the new season started after the merger, the 27 team fell apart which left the 26s and above as vlc teams and anything else as cavs. Today vlc really is cavs just under the new name of VLC. While vlc had no dad coaches and stayed away from daddy ball, the new vlc has dad coaches and daddy ball. They are also kids who have played together so any new players have to break into that social circle somewhat. 29 and 28 teams are a mess. It’s too bad, vlc used to be a good option but not so much anymore. They mismanaged the 27 team falling apart and are now doing the same with the younger teams like the 28s and 29s. Not the best investment of money for the coaching or improving. Good investment if you just want to play year round and have friends on the team.
What happened with 27 team - coach related or parent/player related?
