You were that girl in college who went to Paris for her junior year (summer?) study abroad, fell in love with the city/Europe in general and promised herself that she'd become une vraie parisienne by hook or by crook! Then, you returned back to your university and got married 2-3 years after graduating. You met your husband whilst working in PR for a non-profit in NYC at an Alliance Francaise event. He is, who else, a Frenchman.
You two ONLY speak French to each other and your girls and your francophilia never went away (thus, you gave your daughters French names that could also "pass" for American ones). You sent Claire and Elise to an over-priced "maternelle" (or American pre-school equivalent with a French twist) to make sure that they "were as culturally enriched as possible early on" and dropped beaucoup bucks on a house in McLean so that they could attend Kent Gardens, because "OMG, immersion."
You visit your in-laws in Lyon every summer and write Facebook statuses about going to Johnny Halliday concerts and celebrate Bastille Day in your backyard every year like it's your job. You're a SAHM and your husband works for the French embassy; the French Ambassador is a "dear friend of the family."
This cracked me up! We are both from the Chicago area, where our families have lived for several generations. Moved to this area in 2010, and don't live in McLean. We don't speak French, although I did do a 3-week "study abroad" there in collegeI'm a teacher, DH works for a corporation based here.
It was a nice story, though. Love your writing style!

You changed direction when you saw that Madison, Taylor and Piper were getting too popular. But you achieved the desired effect.
Good luck getting cast as a Real Housewife!!!

You are first generation Brazilian, from the interior of the country, and follow this site to learn more about living in the United States (and we entertain you). Your husband is American, so you had to settle on names that work in both countries, but you really wanted to name your daughter Ana. She has a middle name like Carolina, Maria or Vitoria, which only you and your family in Brazil use. You live in Montgomery County because of the good public schools.

You relocated here from Northern California and are trying very hard to find like-minded souls. Even though you were able to sell your tiny 2-bedroom, 1.5 bath bungalow in SF for a cool 1.8 mil, you still consider yourself to be middle class in DC. You moved to a red line neighborhood in the city because you thought that it would be the easiest way to transition when DH got a job with the Obama administration, but find that your neighbors are all wonks who only shop at the Whole Foods because it is convenient and not because it is your neighborhood purveyor of locally-sourced produce. Kate and Neal love to read, play soccer (Kate is on the travel team), and seem to be adjusting to DC far better than you. Fortunately, the women in DC dress a lot like women in San Francisco, you at least you look like you fit in.
