Oh I will! With the greatest of pleasures! Remember that war in Yemen that starved thousands of children? Killed a bunch of grown-ups, too? That's America good friends the Al-Saud and Al-Rashid and Al-Maktoum. With American intelligence, supplies and refueling!

And these dumb Bahrainis asking for more participation in the government? Shot down by their own government, with the Saudi and American support? Guess they don't count, being brown and all.

And let's not forget the Al-Saud being the greatest source of the ISIS fighters! Tons of rape, pillage and plunder going on there! See, your memory IS faulty.

Besides, all these things you listed? Democracies dabble in these too! I mean the world's greatest democracy bombed Iraq to the ground and prevents humanitarian shipments and rebuilding of Syria. God knows how many children and elderly THAT has killed and will kill.

So you see, it gets tricky picking out allies and pretending you have standards. Every one of them collapses upon close examination.

Toadies? Are people here really cheering on Russia? This isn't a fan forum. Some people are just trying to assess things as they see it. That doesn't mean they love Russia or Russians. Ukraine couldn't end a minor rebellion. It's reasonable to assume victory is not inevitable, at least any time soon.

Lots of people would also rather avoid a great-power confrontation and all the consequences foreseeable and unforeseeable that would come from it. At the end of the day whether some Russians pay their taxes to Moscow or Kiev isn't really that big of a deal, and not one to risk a major conflict over.
