Anonymous wrote:I read there were wargames with America where Ukraine blew up the dam to stop the Soviets.
People on here were talking about an inevitable Ukraine counteroffensive that would push Russia back. If this counteroffensive failed, then blowing the dam would stop Russia from going further after beating the counteroffensive.
History shows the retreating side blows the dam.
That would be Russia. They're spent, have made no significant progress in 8 months, whereas the Ukrainians are replenished and ready to go on the offensive.
Remember when the US fought a twenty year war in Afghanistan and in the end nothing changed.
So far, this Ukraine war is almost ten years on... why not another ten?
The reason nothing changed in Afghanistan was because the us wasn’t willing to do what the Chinese do in xinjiang.
It wasn’t a capability issue but an issue of will/resolve and self imposed guardrails
Ukraine will grind on for a decade more because neither side has the capability.
In other words, the US will make sure Ukraine goes back to the stone age.
Great job Biden lads.
The US is not running this war or Ukraine.
The US is not running the war, just providing the money, equipment, logistical support, intelligence, satellites, rules of engagement and strategy. The war is over in two weeks if the US bows out.
In that scenario, millions of Ukrainians are killed under Russia goal of genocide.
Why is this a good thing, comrade?
Russia has never said it wanted to exterminate Ukrainians, and their actions within occupied territories are not consistent with genocidal intent. But I understand you need to believe that.
I am sure that Russia would prefer that Ukrainians simply accept their subservient status as part of the Russian empire. But given that Ukraine is not going to surrender, Russia believes that it has no choice but to commit genocide.
https://www.justsecurity.org/81789/russias-eliminationist-rhetoric-against-ukraine-a-collection/
Rhetoric means nothing. I mean the US says it's all about democracy and human rights, but their international posture and choice of friends speaks otherwise, don't you think?
Look at actions, not words.
The Russian Government and military are guilty of War Crimes, chooses North Korea, Iraq and other dictatorships as "friends", so what does that make Russia? Besides, according to Shoigu, Russia is doing just fine.
"The attempts at an offensive were thwarted, the enemy was stopped," he added. "The enemy did not achieve its goals but suffered significant and incomparable losses."
https://www.yahoo.com/news/russias-shoigu-ukraines-counter-offensive-155226283.html
If Shoigu is right, then you shouldn't need to post anymore! Actions are what matter. Go do something else. Go back to work! Have fun! Drink some Vodka and toast Russia's victory!
I think you use too few exclamation points. Use more! That'll make you sound more passionate.
So you're saying it's bad to count dictatorships amongst friends? Very well. I'm going to tune into the DOS briefing to hear them say they are severing relations with KSA, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar and Bahrain. Khalas. No more trade, no more weapons trading, no more oil, no more nothing. They are dictators and dictators cannot be our friends.
Cue "well THAT"s different."
I don't remember KSA, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar and Bahrain, etc. using incendiary weapons on civilian cities, or invading neighbor countries and stealing their children, raping their women and murdering the elderly so they could steal what was in their homes? Can you refresh my memory please?
Oh I will! With the greatest of pleasures! Remember that war in Yemen that starved thousands of children? Killed a bunch of grown-ups, too? That's America good friends the Al-Saud and Al-Rashid and Al-Maktoum. With American intelligence, supplies and refueling!
And these dumb Bahrainis asking for more participation in the government? Shot down by their own government, with the Saudi and American support? Guess they don't count, being brown and all.
And let's not forget the Al-Saud being the greatest source of the ISIS fighters! Tons of rape, pillage and plunder going on there! See, your memory IS faulty.
Besides, all these things you listed? Democracies dabble in these too! I mean the world's greatest democracy bombed Iraq to the ground and prevents humanitarian shipments and rebuilding of Syria. God knows how many children and elderly THAT has killed and will kill.
So you see, it gets tricky picking out allies and pretending you have standards. Every one of them collapses upon close examination.
First you said, and I quote "KSA, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar and Bahrain, etc.". Now you said Yemen. But, like an idiot, it was Russia who armed Yemen, which is why middle school kids drag around AK-47's in the desert.
Then you wandered off on Al Saud, ISIS and Syria... wow.
Do you have problems staying on topic? Focusing? Concentrating?
Ever consider meds?
What? If only we weren't posting in a forum where the history of the conversation is easily retained. You said:
"I don't remember KSA, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar and Bahrain, etc. using incendiary weapons on civilian cities, or invading neighbor countries and stealing their children, raping their women and murdering the elderly so they could steal what was in their homes? Can you refresh my memory please?"
My post was to plug the gaps in your memory and remind you that yes, they did. Your memory is faulty. Yes, invasions, oppression, civilian suffering. In Yemen, Syria, domestically and in many other places.
So you're claiming KSA, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar and Bahrain invaded neighbor countries, used incendiary weapons on their cities, raped the women, kidnapped the children, killed the elderly, oh, and let's not forget, blew up a dam to flood a city?
Hmm. I call BS. Post your proof..
In the meantime, here's some information with citations for you to ingest.
Prigozhin said in a video posted to his Telegram account that Russia “will now suffer serious losses.” The mercenary leader predicts that these losses will be so significant for Russia that the Russian government will take it out on their military leaders and “
there will either be a popular revolt or the State Duma will make a decision for capital punishment and gun them the f— down.”

[{VIDEO} Russian State TV is suggesting deliberately blowing up the Kyiv hydroelectric dam to flood the city.]
"Since it came to the destruction of a hydroelectric plant, perhaps we should take a look at the beginning of this cascade; the Kyiv HPP. There is a beautiful reservoir there. Slightly above Kyiv. Four cubic kilometers of water, if I remember correctly. I would ponder on that."
"What would we achieve with that?"
"Just to simply show them. Do you understand? We.. a response is simply needed. For Shebenkino. Let me repeat this again, we need to go to the Kharkiv Oblast. And.. Um.. They are living really peaceful lives there. They placed air defense systems there, and um.. conducting so-to-speak the destruction of our border towns without military targets. They're simply destroying civilian infrastructure. Why should we be holier so-to-speak than the Pope? We are not only destroying military targets and are not at war with civilians, et cetera.

"I read: as of 20:00, fighting in the village of Opytne, the enemy stormed into the village, an attempt to cut off our units in Vodyane. Reports I. Strelkov. Are you guys out of your minds? Who are you quoting?! Strelkov is hundreds of kilometres away from the battlefield! He doesn't know a shit, he doesn't understand anything! A piece of shit who couldn't find the front line. And you just take it and quote it to the whole country, to all your subscribers!" Solovyov stated.

"Vladimir Rogov, the head of the pro-Moscow "We Are Together With Russia" movement, told state media on Thursday that Kyiv had been carrying out counteroffensive operations in the southern Zaporizhzhia region for up to four days. Kyiv has largely remained tight-lipped over its operations, and on Wednesday, the head of Ukraine's Defense and Security Council denied the counteroffensive had begun.
"All of this is not true," Oleksiy Danilov told the Reuters news agency. "When all this will begin, it will be decided by our military." "When we start the counteroffensive, everyone will know about it, they will see it," Danilov added."

“And what will the red line be for us then? For some reason, it seems to me that the red line is a damage that is comparable to the damage that will be caused to us if we cross this line,” continued Simonyanova in her speech, who also said that Russia will have to strike at the airport at some point , from where the fighters will take off, to the factories where all this is produced… “And they will answer the same. And it will be, as they say in America, a “cake fight”, like when children throw cakes at everyone on holiday. It will be a difficult story, both for them and for us. I wish it hadn’t happened,”
After the broadcast of the program,
Simonjanová was immediately accused on social networks of betraying national interests and of weakness. For example, the Telegram channel Obyknovennyj tsarizm said that her words were “propaganda of defeat” and “words flavored with betrayal and blood”. The authors did not even forgive the threats “There is a special cauldron in hell for traitors”.

The Russian propagandists don't have a unified message anymore. The Ultranationalists want to escalate, and there is real fear that the "special operation" will get completely out of hand. Russian propagandists and government officials aren't accustomed to a lack of authority. It's strange for them. An uneasy feeling of loss of control. I expect this will make for an interesting week ahead?
Still on track for anarchy in Russia within 2 1/2 years.. unless, of course, they pull out soon? We'll see..
