Is their current 31 team any good? Doesn't look like they played in Elite in Hoco.

Cavs were mostly coached by local high school coaches.

Before the merger, VLC teams were also largely coached by local high school coaches.

Not very different from Cavs tbh.

Except for the quality of the coaches.

VLC was run by Dico and Z and was a strong club because of Dico and Z. They are no longer involved or Dico is with the 2024 team. The Cav guy’s son played for Dico. They might have been ready to move on so Cav’s merged and really took over. Now it is just a Cav’s plus team. With Dico and/or Z top 20 club nationally.

I believe most players who do leave their clubs do so when they get ready to go to high school. They do so either to go to a club that has closer alignment with their high school (VLC/PVI, etc.), or they weren't happy with their club team for PT, etc. I think VLC's track record showed their approach worked. Look at all the teams prior to 2024--although they had varying success, some squads did quite well when it comes to college recruitment.

VLC is owned by Crabs out of Baltimore. The Crabs, like most travel teams, want to get the money in the door sooner rather than later. Further, there is the idea that you lose out on younger talent that moves through the organization by waiting until 8th grade or whenever VLC had teams. Not sure I agree but if the best players were already playing for ML or NL or the like, Most are unlikely to live and it is harder to pry those kids away from those programs if they are happy.

Not quite insider knowledge but that is an understatement. Lots of entitlement of the VLC (mostly CAVs) parents that rub people the wrong way.

Agree, the younger teams seem to be mostly Cavs players (and not A players) along with Parent coaching and Dad ball. VLC should have remained an A level club while the Cavs have brought it down.

Are you saying the problems on the 2028s and 29s are due to dad ball? I haven’t heard anything like that!

I heard that VLC’s teams at 28 and 29 are dissolving. Any truth to that?

not sure who is coaching 2025 and 2026 teams but I think they are only offering one team at that age group. The 2025 team has their last big push toward recruiting this summer and apparently has some very strong players

This may be lot to ask but would love if anyone could start summary of coaches/teams at each level - it’s hard to get consistent picture

Why would a parent need to know the coaches/teams at every level? The website is not up to date but why do you need to know who is on every team? the recruiting from 2022-2024 is public and that should be enough

Not players - just coaches and whether they have A or B team or both. couldn’t care less about rosters - but who’s coaching and how many teams at each level pretty key information to evaluate options for multiple kids.
