Give it another two years and they’ll all deny they voted for Trump.

A new Economist/YouGov poll finds:

*A majority of Americans think that Trump uses the presidential pardon power too frequently and most Americans are in favor of placing constitutional limits on the president's ability to pardon. Far more disapprove than approve of specific recent pardons and commutations given out by Trump.
*66% of Americans disapprove and 15% approve of the pardon of Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) and his wife, who had been charged with accepting $600,000 in bribes.
*And 66% disapprove and 13% approve of the pardon of former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez, who in 2024 was convicted of drug trafficking and sentenced to 45 years in prison.

Yeah. You think the fact that Trump has issued more than 1000 pardons in the span of a few months might be seen as an issue...

How will they do that? Trump won’t even acknowledge how bad things are. According to him, he gets an A+++ on the economy. And he’s doing everything possible to make it worse.

Things aren’t improving in the near term. But I do see them writing a bunch of small dollar checks hoping to buy people off. Low information, low intelligence voters are happy to trade $2m in lifetime benefits for a new TV today.
