Didn’t the Heights just beat up on STA? How are they a wash against a team STA just beat comfortably? I’d also say Dematha over SSSAS, but agree on the rest.

No magic to GC’s rise. Pay to play. Smith is a persuasive recruiter and GC is reasonably priced compared to the other privates.

SJC has wins over Boys Latin and LaSalle from Philly.

BL is very young this year; they might not even make the MIAA playoffs. Expect them to bounce back next Spring.

LaSalle is a strong program, not in the same domain as Malvern Prep or Haverford, but they are a very quality opponent.

And, yet, the public schools manage to play well into May with their playoffs. I get privates start sooner but adding 2, maybe 3 games to the schedule for a playoff (or even just a 1 game championship like DC does basketball) doesn't seem onerous. The IAC final is scheduled for May 8th and the WCAC championship is scheduled for May 11th.

It's come up a lot, but this year has the most parity in the area in a long time, maybe ever.

The top 3 on the IAC (Bullis, Prep, Landon) and top 4 in the WCAC (PVI, SJC, GZ, GC) are as closely matched talent-wise as they ever have been.

The next three IAC (EHS, StA, SSSA) have had more recent up years and historically had more up years than the rest of the WCAC. The IAC has therefore usually been better top to bottom and had more of the area's top 10 teams on any given year.

The IAC has also benefited historically from more complete and better coaching staffs (not just individual coaches). Landon in particular from Bordley era to present has a seemingly infinite set of coaches at the school (which they go out and get), and they've been the school to beat more than any other.

WCAC schools need to commit more to their coaching staffs, not just playing rosters, if they want to really challenge the IAC for consistent DMV supremacy.

much larger schools that cast a much wider net to prospective families, all of them are much cheaper in tuition etc.

The WCAC is a better conference in hoops and football, and likely every other sport except for maybe lax, soccer, and tennis.

That said, the bottom half of the WCAC are really bad at lacrosse and have been for well over a decade.

I think the teams who have played the least games are starting to look less weather worn, and we're not into playoffs yet.

The upper half (SJC, PVI, GC, GZ) and the upper half of the IAC (Bullis, GP, Landon) are on par.

The middle tier of the WCAC (Ryken, DeMatha, Heights) are likely on par with the likes of STA, Episcopal, and Saint Stephen’s.

Personally I think both leagues are “down” this year or maybe they are now taking a back seat to the big boys in New England West.

Did that at the end of the Covid season. Wont happen again in my opinion. Seniors want to head to senior week after the season.

Take the top two from the IAC (those playing in the IAC ship) and match them up against the top two from the WCAC (those playing in
