My son is MLSN AD starter and also a trapped player. Coach wants him to stay with group and I told him NO. He needs to play with his actual peer group for the first time in his soccer journey. I think all kids should move down unless they are already playing up as a trapped player. No brainer IMO.

Also, if you're that good, and you want to go play in college, then you are better served to play with your graduation year if you're one of those kids that are trapped.

DS team is prob unique in that a few of their best players are August-Dec bdays. I suspect they will play up next year while the other late bdays will repeat to play on age.

So, my guess is my kid goes to MLSnext 2015 and maybe is more of an impact player there? But, sounds like he can't join the 2015 academy even if he was there ability wise? Does this track? (Before any haters say, "he's trash anyway, tell him to give up..." We are happy with 2nd team. Good kids and coaches, less travel stress, want him playing sports for the benefits of sports)

We’ve heard academies are also changing to 8/1 but I think that is the only questionable thing left. I won’t fully believe that until it’s announced. MLSnext clubs changing to 8/1 was spoken about pretty openly this past weekend after the GA announcement (our club is GA/MLSN).

I think you would repeat u12 preMLS next and then play against all new kids except those on your current team (and possibly B team) who are born after aug1

Our kids asked the Director of Coaching about it this morning.

Yes, MLS Next will do SY, starting 2026/27.

MLS Academies will play 1 year up (actually just 5 months up).

This was exactly what the LAFC dad said 6 months ago, that only MLS Academy stays in BY and plays up, and he got a good laugh at him.

Nice to see Mr Ugh sticking around trying to hang on to the delusion that somehow MLSN ignores the entire landscape change to Aug 1st. What is the main argument you were trying to peddle again? Something about MLSN is beyond special and they would be completely incompatible with such a new cutoff as it would create an unwanted association with school year and hurt their international sales and play opportunities. Cmon let’s here that big bag of BS some more…

You are really stupid. I come here for information, and I see idiots like you too many times.

lol. That is such a Mr. Ugh thing to say.
