I love the part where they’re jock-sniffing other academies like an infatuated teenager 😂

“This is the time when we need to hammer D.C. a little bit. Because we’ve been hammering New England and just down the East Coast there, D.C. is a disaster. They need to figure out, and it starts with ownership to be sure, ‘Do you really care about this? And if not then take your profit and get out because the league is too mature now to have teams like this,” Donovan said on the Unfiltered Podcast.

“They are just a mess man, there’s few people in the stands, and people don’t care the way they used to. I used to hate going to D.C. to play dude, it was a nightmare. The teams were good and now it’s like they’re just a shadow of themselves, they’re cheap and they don’t spend money," Donovan said. "They’re just a mess, a lack of leadership there and they’re a total mess and they’ve been mired in this for years and years now. And those of us that love the league and know the league from the early days, we wanna see D.C. get back to prominence.”

But the academy is good enough!

How many MLS trophies has Philly Union won?

So only the ignorant think they're one entity

Maybe take a look to see how many incoming players to Union's squad this year were from their academy or their MLS Next Pro affiliate. It's 5. For DC it's 1. Not only does a good academy potentially pay for itself through outgoing transfer fees, it also saves money for the first team roster.

DCU for instance got $7M for Kevin Paredes alone, which if they were smart, would have been invested back into the academy.

Just another example of how DCU has no respect in the league and its academy is no different. All the themes are the same: poor management, no money, poor decisionmaking, no interest in making things better. It starts from the top and ends at the bottom. The academy is no different. Pretty telling that there is an article just on how sh#ty DCU is.

How many sports teams has pundits and podcasts ranting against them every week?

Senior team has no money, what makes you think the academy team will? They're cutting teams. Meanwhile, Red Bulls are officially adding teams, U10 and u11.

The answer is that Philly Union has never won MLS trophy

It will become obvious soon enough that the U14 still exists and is kicking on. Just ignore this person.

The u14 team will not play next season. The academy director told the parents this on Monday. You can think what you want. It's true. All those kids are looking for other clubs to play at.

How about this. Start a new thread in the forum about next season for DCUs u14 and see what people say. Tons of parents on here. You'll see pretty fast the truth come out.

We care more about ECNL BY or SY

Only 4 of you have anything to do with dcu academy
