Unfortunately there isn’t one. Means that a whole country has no future now. I know it can’t be compared to what Ukraine is going through but I also feel sad for the kids of Russia who have been deprived of their future.

I don’t think public mobilization could happen here.

They are also much more resilient and have more street smarts

This is the danger in not believing in the promise of America. We’re not perfect, Ukraine isn’t perfect, but we are worth defending, worth dying for. Cynicism hiding under a blanket of moral outrage allows evil to thrive. The hope of brave people in the face of hopeless problems is the best of humanity.

No offense but judging how scared of covid Americans were… I think you would behave very differently than you think in a real war situation

The Russian people need to pour into the streets. This is their chance. What has Putin done for them besides build himself dachas with stripper poles?

Because this is their homeland. They do not want to be ruled by a tyrant.
You must not understand that for many people, freedom is worth sacrificing one's life.

Well, the person you are responding to likely has tantrums around the freedom not to wear a mask during a pandemic, not understanding what ACTUAL freedom entails.

I mean, the patriots to the PP are the people who attacked the Capitol, whereas in Uktraine, the patriots in Ukraine are DEFENDING the capital.

It does sort of make one realize just how stupid and silly the US has become (Yes I’m pointing at you Trump and Koch acolytes and anyone courting totalitarianism and the unwitting fools caught up in it all)

Ukrainian grandmas armed and ready to give their lives to defend their country and families facing an actual real danger willing to defend their democracy and country. And normal Citizens in Russia willing to go to jail or worse living under a dictator but still protesting what their government, and not a swastika in sight. Really really brings home how absolutely stupid the right wing nuts in this country have become and how they are trying to drag good and decent people lives down. It also can’t help but be reminded of the images from Jan 6 from the capital that were beamed around the world. What a contrast. Wow!

Ugh with your stupid butt hurt wah I don’t want to wear a mask and you can’t make me, ban books that run counter to my personal beliefs, grievances and your stupid sons taking your families weapons stash to movie theaters and kindergarten classrooms to shoot up little kids.

Well guess what this is what it looks like when you get what you want. This doesn’t end well for Ukraine but it really really doesn’t end well for Putin. Stop your histrionics. Button up and get it together. Sniveling fools. You are collectively sick and this country would be so much better off without you.

Rant over.

I would agree that "It does sort of make one realize just how stupid and silly the US has become."
But my opinion is far different from yours.

We have a military that is seemingly more interested in "equity" and "diversity training" than in actual combat readiness. We have a generation of woke progressives far more interested in proclaiming their pronouns than in doing actual service to their country. We have schools focusing on race and promoting sexual content to children instead of teaching content children need to learn in order to be successful, productive citizens. We have social media companies deciding who to censor because of "fake news" yet these same companies won't censor the actual accounts of dictators and tyrants. And, let's not even get started on the whole notion that a man can be pregnant. If you want to discuss histrionics and "getting it together," maybe we should start with the insane issues that we have been forced to focus on. Yes, indeed, there are things far more important that pronouns or diversity training or what color a person is who is hired or which of the 72 genders one belongs to.

And, if anyone dares to object to such things, they are labeled as tranphobic or white supremacist or racist or some other "ist."

And, then we have a White House that promotes silly Tik Tok videos, focuses on identity politics in their hiring, and promotes itself for being the "first" for really, really ridiculous things. (first transgender hire, first drag queen hire, etc., etc.)

So, yes, the US looks pretty silly when you take all this into consideration. Especially when you see the courage and resolve of the Ukrainian people.

Wow, you’re a POS. You have shamed our country and our armed forces. Feel free to move on over to Russia, they also have pretty strong feelings about gender and sex issues over there. Their military is so strong, they have to conscript children and lie to them about what they are being sent to do. Their people have it together so much, they imprison anyone who steps out of line and bans entire categories of alternate thought. Their orphanages are filled with the best and brightest of children.

Some of us believe we are better and stronger for our diversity. We outnumber you. And yeah, we won’t hesitate to call you out for what you are and let you know your viewpoint is no longer welcome here. But like I said, you’d be at home in Russia so feel free to head over there, if you can find a flight or a boat that can manage to get between here and there right now.

Oh, honey. There is nothing wrong with diversity. But obsessing and focusing on diversity at the expense of far more important issues is short-sighted and just plain stupid.
You don't see the people of Ukraine worried about their preferred pronouns or the gender identity of those fighting for their country.
This country has become obsessed with issues that are trivial and in many cases absurd.
And, no... I will not be heading to Russia or any other country. Born and raised in the US. I plan to stay and yes, I will continue to fight to make THIS country the best it can be,

Look at what you’ve posted. You are the problem. Whether you agree with it or not. There are people trying to make this country a hospitable place for all kinds of people. Why do you care so much what someone wants to call themselves? The answer is you shouldn’t. But yet here you are throwing your worn out culture war talking points out into the ether and fighting against what? Cowards afraid of change.

Take a look in the mirror a good long look. What the heck are you so afraid of? You are frightened it’s clear. For me it has never been more clear. Stupid and frightened and cowardly, the triple threat. Such a bad combination. This is what makes you silly.

The people fighting in Ukraine are no doubt scared as hell but they aren’t impotent, petty, stupid or silly. Go away!

I don’t think they “let” him call anyone, this was likely forced. That pissed off mom is now going to spread word. Putin can shut down Facebook and flood propaganda but he can’t stop the mom gossip network.

GOP can rally on about the libs and Biden being old or whatever, but it is entirely possible the US and the small L liberalism get a huge boost.

I’m amazed. Not at The Biden Admin, but just the fact that it seems the people in charge actually listened to the IC. Like, they actually listened to the legitimate intel and then acted appropriately. I truly was beginning to think we spend trillions of dollars on intelligence in order to bury, or cherry pick it.
Shocked.

Very unlike The Former Guy who said he believed Putin over our own IC.

We have rich history going back decades, of ignoring intelligence.

Maybe because the Russian soldiers realize this is wrong. From accounts I have read, many did not know what they were doing at the border and some believed Putin's propaganda.

They absolutely know where they are and why they are there. It is part of their training to say deny knowledge if they are caught. As for restraint, they’ve been bombardons Kyiv almost nonstop and it’s still day 3 what restraint?

+1 The number of people Poor-Russian-ing based on TikTok videos of captured fighters is baffling. Do you think these men weren’t bombing ambulances and civilians 10 minutes prior? “They are children! They don’t want to fight! Their heart isn’t in this!” Nothing more patriotic than Americans refusing to let young people take responsibility for their murders.
