Carried lived in that apartment for years before marrying Big and loved it - there’s a reason she couldn’t bring herself to give it up after they got married. It does not seem strange at all that after having her world turned upside down so unexpectedly, she would choose to return to a place that comforted her.

+1 I find this totally believable and am irate about the “I’m going to buy a fancy downtown apartment and then sell it after a week when it beeps too much”plot line.

Well, depression anyway. But her referring to her situation as a "rom com" was the height of delusion.

I know Miranda is supposed to be “discovering” a new identity in middle age. But, frankly, her behavior and words come off as someone suffering from manic depression. She seemed absolutely manic in this last episode.

But I doubt the show will approach this from an angle of mental illness.

If Natasha was left $1m, Carrie was left millions (probably ~$5-10m) plus the money from selling the apartment. Which is good, since her income seems unsteady at best. She'd be foolish not to archive her designer wardrobe, which is her most significant asset other than the apartment. Worth at least $100k, and the real true love of her life!

She's just one person and loves her apartment, so why not? Plenty of money to travel and buy designer clothes and accessories.
